Hi everyone,

I know that it's only been 2 months since we filed..after we sent in the RFE response 3 weeks ago, I haven't heard anything, no EAD production, no notices, no updates..I've seen responses given to people as early as a week after an RFE, I'm not sure if something is going on or not..I know I have to wait but not being able to work or get a license or go anywhere is getting to me...my husband works long hours and I'm not used to being a housewife, I've worked all my life and saved up money, now I can't even help with the bills because I can't work. I feel like ####### most of the time and my husband's been supportive and patient; I didn't think it would get to me like this, but the waiting and the nervousness of not knowing what's going to happen and nothing to do to get my mind off it is driving me crazy. I have no idea what to do.

I completely understand what you are going through. I remember, when I visited my then-fiance, now-husband, for a month, I had to stay home all the time (I am a US citizen, by the way). I was so used to the fact that I was out there, working, communicating, interacting with people; so, I felt completely miserable. The only thing that kept me going was that I would see him tonight and that situation would only be temporary. And it was only a month I had to go through this.. I can imagine your feelings..

Hang in there, all I can say. Try to come up with hobbies: reading, hiking, exploring your town, neighbors, cooking (maybe), dancing classes (salsa, ballroom, hip-hop), yoga, etc. (check out meetup.com). Try planning getaway weekends out of town to take your mind off of this process and enjoy your life with your husband. Try to make a positive journey out of this process. You will soon start working a lot, so enjoy while you can. Think of it as your long vacation. =)

Good luck!

Hmm..so I might get an interview letter before the EAD, well can't say I mind as long as I know it's all okay. My case went sort of backwards, I got the appointment for the biometrics and after I got that done we got the RFE. I didn't expect to get one but my husband's employment letter was lost and the requested another one plus other things. I live in a small town which is quiet, there's nothing to do here and I am so bored out of my mind. I learned to cook just by staying at home, I was looking into a gym but it's too far to walk there plus winter is around the corner and in Maine, not a good idea to walk in the cold lol. I hope this is over soon, I wish you all good luck too!

Its really difficult, My fiancee is in Brazil and im here in New Jersey. We saw each other last in August, next time im going to see her is in Febuary, mostly because of our work and school schedules. I miss her a lot but i know God's time for everything in this life is perfect, everything happens when its supposed to, never by chance, never by accident.

Faith, its what keeps me going.

Amen to that :) I just called in to check on our case, no updates as of today. Doesn't even show that they received it and the lady said that they usually notify us when they do get it. I'm worried that they didn't get the response...she told me to wait another week but that's just wasting time and I sent in the original copies of the RFE we got with our response like they said. What if they didn't get it, how do I make sure? Now I'm freaking out

I know how hard it can be. This whole process has taught me the virtues of patience. I believe you just have to put your head down and do what you got to do till you get there. Why don't you see if you can volunteer at a daycare or school or something. Maybe your husband could drop you off before work and pick you up in the afternoon. Or, if you have bus service where you live you can go it on your own. Maybe take an online class if you can't leave the house. Do whatever you can to get your mind off it. Don't worry. The papers will come soon enough. Just got to wait a little bit longer. You're almost there!

Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to do any kind of work (I believe not even voluntary) without my EAD. I guess I have no choice but to wait, just like the rest :) On another note, I called the customer service center again and a different lady answered me and told me that our RFE response has been received and has been in review since October 3rd, I can't believe that first lady told me to wait a week and call back to see if there was any update, what the heck!

I know exactly what you are going through. In times like these you have to keep you mind engaged on something you are passionate about. Start formulating a plan of what you will do when you finally get to the point when you can work. Keep your mind on the future and take it off the present. If there is a food bank or something else in your area where you can volunteer your time it might help you take your mind off your present situation. I am in a very similar situation, I know your pain, but things will change for the better for you soon.
