Hi Everyone

I'm lost, overwhelmed by information, and really looking for some advice or input by real people.

I'm a chef, Canadian citizen, looking to work in the US. I'm not eligible for a TN visa, and not sure how feasible it is for me to receive any other type of visa, other than a K-1. My girlfriend lives in NY State and I dearly want to be closer to her. But we want to do it legally. Eventually we will definitely get married, but we're not at that point yet in our relationship.

I am successful in my field, have good credentials, skills and references. I am employable and easy to hire with my experience. The unfortunate part, is that many chefs are transient/seasonal, so it is difficult to find a company that would be willing to spend the time & effort to fill out the appropriate paperwork. Does anyone know of any feasible options that I might have? How do so many workers in the hospitality field, from around the world, seemingly make it so easy to re-locate?? PLEASE, I'm looking for some advice on potential options. Thanks.

It can vary depending on your experience and would your role include management as well, you can apply for variety of different visa.

Like O1 is normally for a Chef with extraordinary skills, H2B if you are looking for temp seasonal position.

K1 is not a right option for you if you are not ready to get married, if you enter on K1 you have 90 days to get married, if you don’t married you lose your status.
