Solar plant in Spain generates power day and night

How do you know they are charging their cars from the coal plant? Or was just a false proclamation to try and make a claim that environmentalists are hypocrites?

Here for example we have PECO, but can purchase energy from a wind farm and it's transmitted over PECO's lines. I pay more for it, but if it helps to reduce our demand and reliance on fossil fuels, I am doing my part. Fossil fuels won't be around forever, the sooner we can break free of their stranglehold over our lives, the better off we'll all be.

Because Burlington gets its power from the coal plant, BEC only buys other power when needed or when the plant is down from operation. I do not live in Burlington. My power comes from Green Mountain Power. Most of that comes from Quebec. Hydro plants that the Canadians built after forcibly removing Indians from their native lands and then building dams and flooding the land. They displaced so many Indians and flooded so much land that electric power is one of Quebec's major exports now. NY, VT, NH, and ME buy a lot of that power from displaced native American's former soveriegn land. Pretty cheaply I might add. Not to mention Ontario, PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland/Labrador

The rest of of power comes from the Nuke plant. Environmentalists love those also, right? So far the wind and solar has been for private use. Those projects are not even connected to the power grid.

I do no tneed to make false statements. Most of the electricy in the US is from coal plants which makes electric cars, actually, coal powered cars.

The internet was government funded/ subsidized and then eventually turned over to private industry.

Ideologues suffer from myopia, because to acknowledge that things are never black and white would cause their whole ideology (guvmint is bad, bad, bad) to crumble.

They also have a history of expensive green energy projects that turn out to be less than promised.

Spain for sure.

California's problem is that all the green projects get shut down for environmental reasons. Either it's disrupting the salmon migration, or it's killing endangered predatory birds, or they can't find a vacant piece of land not already inhabited by rodents or kit foxes, or historical artifacts.

I like nuclear. Limerick generating station is within 30 miles of my house. I'm not your prototypical environmentalist. I like to flyfish, so I want clean water. I like to bowhunt, so I don't want the deer I'm hunting to be eating GMO corn or soybean. I work for a government agency in solid waste and recycling, that's in a partnership with a private entity to burn our trash to produce electricity. I like anything that lessens our reliance on fossil fuels. I believe some(conservatives) are afraid of what awaits when everything we purchase is not tied to the whims of what OPEC does or does not do. Government is big no matter what. What these fools(save Ron Paul, maybe Herman Cain too) are arguing about is what vision they have for the role of our big government. :o

The post about Exelon, I know all about them. The power they supply in my area though comes from fossil fuels, not a renewable. As the owner of a 457 account, three 529 plans and a pension, I own some of their stock. :D

Not worried either. Nuclear seems to be the way to go. Just thought you might like to know the mix of power going down those power lines. "Green" or "Renewable" options are like carbon credits: They make you feel good, but in reality they are a scam perpetrated on the consumer to think they are actually part of the solution.
