That means that either...

1. Aussies are so honest none of them would ever lie about anything

OR

2. No oath they ever took would mean anything anyway

:P

How do they handle the language difference issue in Australia? Do you have to prove you can speak English?

Let's clarify some misconceptions and misinformation presented. Reading Dustin's post I can clearly see it is about Anya's interview on the 19th as his fiance and mine have struck up a freindship through the process.

First off, she was approved.

She was never specifically told "yes," and instead told "I have to think about it," which worried her and she thought the worst having not heard a "yes". It is true her English isn't strong, but it is leaps and bounds greater than when we first met, and she did undertake studying with a tutor for a time. It is true she was given the "I will tell the truth" in English and she did ask for an interpreter but was told no. That one still confuses me. I do study Russian, but am by no means fluent, yet, we have no difficulty communicating at all. The interviewer was skeptical of this from Anya's explanation of the course of events. This was the only question this interviewer asked. There was plenty of evidence to support our communication which included close to 500 pages of Skype, most of it in Russian as well as emails... again, most of them in Russian. Anya did see another interviewer about 2 hours later who asked the typical questions which Anya had no problems answering. I think the entire English thing shell-shocked her for the most part and still does. Aside from never having gone through something like this she was nervous. Going over what she can expect when she travels has been a numbing experience for her. It has been a little over a year since we last saw each other, not that this is anyone's business. New job, no seniority, lack of vacation time, however, we do communicate daily. We don't use Skype daily though which is probably what the reference is about us not communicating daily.

Congratulations! Sorry if we made any judgements based on third hand information which does not always get transmitted intact, and through no fault of Dustin's

Good luck.

They usually are. Soemthing to keep in mind with your relationship is that she may make (and you may make) mistakes in words or actions that will be seen or sound as offensive to someone from that culture.

Let it go. She loves you and does not want to offend or hurt you. So like when you wear your shoes in the house....

Seriously, we joke about that, but Alla is offended as it shows a disrespect for her work (in their culture) as they really consider shoes "dirty". So just remember that. You are going to have the time of your life, if you do your part. Your fiancee is stunningly beautiful, you will learn to deal with that also  I am sure she is as warm and truly loving as Ukrainian women have a well deserved reputation for. You are a very lucky man, never forget that. Do ths right and you will never have a "bad day" again. ou may have to adjust to being "taken care of". Let her "take care of you" it is her job, let her do it. And the house is no longer yours, in case you didn;t know that

be her "go to" guy, as Alla says "You have to be my husband, my lover, my father, my friend, my plumber, my electrician amd my carpenter, my accountant, my teacher...and do not mix them!"
