Congrats and glad that your wait is over! So which route did you take to get the US passport? Did you have to apply for N-600 first or where you able to get the US passport without it?

Thought that long wait was over after you now need a passport to go to Canada or Mexico rush. I do know they have to do a background check on each passport issued, maybe that is what took so long. Can appreciate your concern about getting all of your original documentation back.

I did not file N-600, I was going to but they finally processed my son application after 6 months... Got SSN for my son last December too.

Too many different governmental agencies, essentially doing the same stuff. And what we learned from 9/11, they don't communicate very well with each other. So what do they do, create yet another agency to overlook these agencies.

SS is now suppose to be the link for immigration status, most of us know that, but what about the employees at the DOS or the USCIS? As Gates reported, of all places, on the Bill Maher comedy show on HBO with minimum access, have so many agencies now, tripping over each others feet, fighting over jurisdiction, and essentially doing nothing.

Same with immigration, bounced between the NVC, DOS, and the USCIS, then ICE, and the POE also get involved.
