Hi,

I have not had much luck trying to talk to an officer while calling the USCIS hotline in the past. Our case is two months out of the normal processing time and every time we call to check for updates, we have been told the same standard response- "We will put in a request of inquiry and you should get an update within 2 weeks. If not, please call again."

I am sure anyone who has had similar experiences can understand that we can't really afford these "two weeks" of aimless waiting without really knowing what is up with our case. The highest level of officer we have been able to reach is the 2nd level and the have admitted that they don't have access to any details or any specifics about our case, but they refuse to transfer our call to someone who has full access to our case and provide us with some concrete information.

I know of someone whose case was delayed several years not because the applicant did anything wrong, but because USCIS failed to inform him that he was missing an updated biometrics in their electronic system. He continued to call, but had received the same suggestion to wait for updates from the office. Meanwhile, he had been going to the office annually to get the biometrics done for the EAD!

Given the described situation, does anyone have any advice on how to effectively handle this?

Thanks.

Call your congressman, senator, make sure they make as much noise as possible. That helped me get my citizenship 10 years ago...they claimed my info was "lost"...after Cardin called them, my application was approved in 1 week. Now trying to do that for the K-1, not as much luck unfortunately...but who knows.

Same here with unexplained delays, contacted my senators office, twice was cleared up in minutes, third time, took a week.
