Hi guys - I have a few questions about the medical - are all of the immunizations needed? And is there anything we can do with our own GP before we go - ie. blood test etc? Am i right in saying that the blood test they do just checks for immunity to certain diseases? Im from Adelaide and seeing as though there isnt a panel physician here, i would like to take care of us much as i can and before it gets too expensive! Thanks guys!

I got mine dont in sydney Dr waks. I only needed 2 shots one for TB and the other for measles mumps . It will depend on your age what needles u need if u dont have vacication records. yes u can get a blood test at a Gp to see what your ammune to,. Mine cost $410 with the 2 shots

2013-08-20 (DAY 8) Noa1 received via Text around 11pm, next day was email. Received my case numbers

2013-08-23 (Day 11)- received hard copy in mail for Noa1 gc , Work permit

2013-08-30 (Day 18) Received Biometrics appointment letter in the mail.

2013-09-17 (Day 25) biometrics appointment day @2pm Detriot

2013-09-25 (Day 33) received text and email , I485 changed to testing and interview

2013-10-02 (Day 40) received text message and email @7am about my interview date

2013-10-04 (Day 42) Received hard copy interview letter in the mail

2013-10-10 (Day 48) Work permit Card in production

2013-10-16 (Day 54) 2nd Text and email @830am Work permit in Production

2013-10-21 (Day 59) text/email notice 10am . Work Permit sent

2013-10-21(Day 59)Text/ email @9pm received text with tracking number -2 day delievery

2013-10-24(Day 62) received my work permit in the mail.

2013-10-25 Filled for my Social Security number today

2013-11-05 (Day 74) Interview November 5th (1.40pm)...... APPROVED!! kicking.gif

2013-11-05(Day 74) Text and Email - Green card in Production @2.30pm

2013-11-05 (Day 74) Text and email @8.15pm Mailed notice that i am a registered permanent resident

2013-11-07 (Day 76) 2nd Text and email @11.30am - green card in production

2013-11-09 (Day 78) Welcome letter received - WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

2013-11-12 (Day 81) - Received text and email - Green card sent @1.15pm

2013-11-12 (Day 81) @9pm received text and email - with UPS tracking number - For Green card

2013-11-15 (Day 84) Green card Received dancin5hr.gif

I was from Adelaide too and i went to melbourne and saw Dr. Okraglik, he was brilliant! i didn't have any shots on the day, only the blood test. Before i went i saw my regular doctor and i had another mmr and a serology to make sure i was still immune to chicken pox. I had the flu shot aswell but it turns out i didn't even need that one. I took my baby book along as that had all my immunisations in it aswell

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

03/14/12 Received Green card in mail.....

....no more USCIS until December 2013

Depends on your age and what vaccination records you already have. A lot of them will be "not age appropriate". The flu shot will be needed if it is flu season in the US when you see the CS (starts October 1st). I didn't need the flu shot when I saw the panel physician, but by the time I saw the civil surgeon in the US it was flu season and they made me get the shot (it was cheap).

If you ask your local doctor for vaccinations for the purpose of immigration, you will have to pay for them anyway. Dr Okraglik charged me $40 for the 1st MMR shot, I had the second one done before I left for the US and it cost about the same at my local doctor anyway. Most likely cheaper than having them done in the US though.
