Who do you contact if no progress?

I know some people contact a congressman (I think) to help speed things along with their case. Who should you contact if USCIS is not updating or progessing your AOS application?

I, for one, did contact my local congressman, but it was for a very specific reason where we truly needed help. The embassy in Warsaw had lost his paperwork and refusing to give him an interview date and he was in danger of aging out. Asking them to find out why you did not get an update is...well... do not expect a response. This is more a need for you to just have some more patience. If you have gone past any normal time frames by at least a month or more, and not getting any response when you contact the USCIS or DOS, then you would need to document every call you made, every conversation you had, every email you sent, and so forth in order for them to intervene.

First, add a timeline to your signature. That will be helpful for us to determine where you are on your journey and whether you're "behind schedule."

Based on other posts you've made, I see that your AOS package was received on 08/26/11, and that you biometrics was on 09/21/11. That's not even a month ago. As someone mentionaed on another thread you started:

Good luck to both of you. It seems that more times than not New Yorkers take a little longer than everyone else. But you can expect to recieve your EAD card order within 90 days because it is processed in a different place and that is the limit for getting them approved (emphasis added).

You need to be a bit more patient. If you see my wife's timeline below, you'll note that she got her EAD just over two months after her biometrics. In fact, she got it after we had our interview, so we didn't even need it! If you're lucky, you'll get your interview notice next (ours came in a month after biometrics).

In short, you're not out of the "normal range" for USCIS moves, so I think it's premature to be asking your Congressional representative for help.

maybe the reason USCIS dont move very fast is because they are too busy dealing with congressmen complaining on the petitioners behalf that there case isnt going as quickly as they would like!!

Congressmen serve their purpose of getting things moved along if it is way outside of the processing time frame. I waited to contact my congressman until we were over 30 days over the processing time for AOS applications at the Phoenix office. It did help, within a week they notified us that they finished their review at the NBC and transferred the file to Phoenix to be scheduled for an interview. Be patient sometimes this process can take forever! Case in point we have been waiting for 6 months, taking out the time for our RFE that we received, and could still be waiting another 2 or 3 months, and this in an office that boasts a 4 month processing time frame.
