Hi guys

It really looks like we have somehow completely lost my passport with my visa in it. We've been through the house over and over and over again, same with the car, and called every place we stayed along the way, and it hasn't turned up anywhere.

What do we do now?? I assume I need to get a new passport, and then...? The montreal consulate does not take phone calls and the reply time for emails is about a month - my visa that I lost is valid until December 14th and we were going to get married next week. Should we go ahead with the marriage, or wait? I'm so lost and am majorly freaking out here.

Please help!

FIRST THINGS FIRST. TAKE A DEEP BREATH CLEAR YOUR HEAD, AND SEARCH EACH ROOM AND COAT, INCH BY INCH SYSTEMATICALLY. When did you have it out last. And of course you will need to let the Canadian passport office know. A couple of questions: Are you already in the USA? Have you contacted the USCIS and have you looked in the inside pocket of your purse?..lol.. sorry It's just I had a similar experience losing my passport but not during this process. Boy I feel for you. As for getting married well if you are already in the USA I can't see why not except you may need it for identification for the marriage license. Please keep us posted...

Terri

"Should we go ahead with the marriage, or wait?"

Perhaps you could enlighten us some more so we'd know why you are asking us this :)

Just asking because you need the passport with your visa in it to cross the border, but if you are already there then I think yes you should continue with your plans for the marriage. Not sure if you have your marriage license already or not and you would need your passport as ID. BUT if you can't find it you must report it lost to the local police, then go through the process of getting a new one. If you are in the USA maybe contact the Canadian Embassy there. They can probably point you in the right direction.

Hope some of this helps.

Terri

Thank you so much for the replies everyone, but thank God I FOUND IT!! I don't know how it possibly got to where it was, but we've got it now and it is safely stashed away with all our other paperwork in our special box!
