Hi all,

I sent my PKT 3 documents on 10 Oct using the platinum envelopes and the POST tracking shows it was signed and delivered on 11 October.I have not received any response and I am bit worried given that most VJers got it within a week. :help: does it take this long ? Or did i use the wrong envelope as it had to be signed on delivery?

I am a bit worried because there was a question to the effect of 'Has anyone ever filled an immigrant visa petition on your behalf? To which I replied 'NO' given that my current application is defined as a NONimmmigrant visa and is the first visa/migration application my fiance or anyone has ever filled on my behalf.Did i need to tick YES ?

usually it takes 5=7 working days before you can get a interveiw date packet 4-

i would email sydney embassy and see if you have given enough evidence to recieve one yet.

thats what i did and i recieved one 24 hrs later. Or atleast get a response and not worry crazy whats going on.

I used a express envelope i dont think platuim is any different it just has to be signed which is safer anyways.

Good luck

Ah no you ticked the NO box right but you should not have sent your packet 3 in a platinum envelope as you are right it has to be signed which is why you supply them a self addressed one as they send your medical and passport back in one and you have to sign for it. You should have just sent it in an express envelope as the consulate would not sign for mail. You need to email them to find out if they got it and use your case number in the subject line. But saying that you only sent it last week so you may hear this week only just gone Tuesday for you so by the end of the week you should hear but send email anyways.

I don't think it matters whether you used a platinum envelope or not for your packet 3. I used a platinum envelope to send my packet 3 and it was signed for by "Smith" at the consulate, no problems. When I went to the interview I took a non-platinum express envelope with me for the return of my passport etc, I saved myself a few bucks that way. The instructions say to bring a "express/platinum envelope", and I interpreted that to be express OR platinum express. Since I would be the one receiving it I didn't care whether it was signature on delivery or not, as long as it has a tracking number that I could use to see when it was sent by the consulate. I received my passport back 2 days after the interview so it was not a problem.

As for waiting time, I think it took about a week between sending packet 3 and receiving packet 4 (the interview letter) via email. So hang in there, it shouldn't be much longer.

As Barbara said, "no" is the right box to tick, since even though K-1 is technically a non-immigrant visa, it is a pathway to immigration, and so it is treated as an immigrant visa (that is why you have to go through the Sydney consulate).

Hi all

Barbara J and Laine B, Yes i ticked 'No' in the box and mine shows it was signed by 'Smith' too  . Happy to know it is the right one.

Dave and Shannon ,it is comforting to know that it necessarly doesn't mean that there is something wrong with my paperwork even if it takes longer than a week to get PKT 4.I will send them an email if i dont get anything by friday...fingers crossed i get PKT 4 before then... :)

Thanks all , I was getting abit worried there but your response has helped me back away from the 'panic' button :P
