Doesn't seem to work too well, does it?

Here, you can go to a gun shop, buy a gun, walk out with it 5 minutes later, load it, put it in your belt under your shirt and go to the mall. We have virtually no crime here.

Here we buy our guns at the bar from drunk and broke commercial fisherman.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Strange how that works. Only a criminal would want it changed.

You obviously haven't spent very much time in Colombia. Ask your fiance or wife what she or her friends do when someone pulls a gun on her in Colombia. 99.9% of them give them what they want. My fiance was shell-shocked that I just walked away. There are not too many people alive that stood in my shoes. I.e. If you do not give them what they want, you are dead and there will be "no" witnesses and there will be "no" investigation. Life means very little in Colombia.

If you are unarmed and someone has a gun pointed at you yeah give them what they want.. Not because of some non-violence stance but because it is your best option at the time. Never go with them, never get in a car with them - even if they have a gun pointed at you. If someone has entered your house then they mean you harm - acting like Gandhi is not the right thing to do in that situation.

As to your comment about life meaning very little in Colombia... Not been my experience at all.

I don't think I'd even want to lay eyes on any woman that would even want to be in the same room of a drunk, broke fisherman. Imagine the stench coming from a drunk, broke fisherman. Yuck.

Oh I know. They don't manicure their nails, and they are just icky and dirty. I think I'm going to go cry now. Not sure why...maybe it's just hormones.

Gary, you seem to be missing what I am saying. I think it is despicable that one human being would use a gun or violence against another. I do not depend on someone to do anything. A police "might" shoot an intruder. I certainly don't want him to, nor do I think he should. Violence is wrong. You can bash me all you want for thinking peace is always the solution, but don't ever say I depend on someone else to do what I should be doing because that is false. I do not feel I should ever use violence, nor do I want anyone to ever use violence.

You guys all think that if someone threatens your civil liberties that you have the right to go off them at will. Ok, then next time our military engages in combat in any foreign country I better see every single one of you stating that every single person in that country being attacked has the right to injure and kill every single one of our military men. I better not see a single one of you supporting our military in any way because your statements of you have the right to protect your civil liberties is false if you do not agree that every human being in the world has the exact same civil liberty.

Getting back to reponding to Gary- I simply disagree with violence in any form, and I do not want anyone to come use any sort of violence to defend me, ever.

They depend on someone else with a gun to do what they should do. Spineless, nutless wonders. I cannot imagine how they manage to walk on two legs.

"Never mind, if I need someone with a gun to defend what is mine, I will call 911"

I will gladly admit that one of my pet peeves is being in the same room with someone who smells bad.

So you would not even call 911

You won't even call 911? Or will you ask them to send police without guns? I do not believe you would do either. Don't be silly.

The fact is that people being prepared to defend themselves with violence makes the world a safer place for those that do not wish to think about it. The very least you could do is say "thank you" for the benefit you receive. Your particularly wussified opinion would not stand for 3 minutes if it were not for those that would defend themselves and you against violence.

YOU can walk through any neighborhood in our city at any time of the night UNarmed because alot of us ARE armed and the bad guy isn't going to take the chance. Stop pretending otherwise. These sick bastards that do these things to other people respond very well to sucking chest wounds and not much else. Only the reasonable chance that they could end up in the morgue keeps them from harming you.

The good thing about an armed society, that even you can appreciate, is very little violence. We have virtually no crime, virtually no violence and virtually no bad guys being shot by good guys. Seems like a good place, right? So why not do your part?

I will gladly admit that one of my pet peeves is being in the same room with someone who smells bad.

Who knew?

#######??????????

Looky here, I am not going to shoot someone because they block me from parking in the first space at the stop and shop. I never said anything about killing anyone for the purpose of "civil liberties" whatever the #### that means. I said that if someone attempts to injure or kill myself or my family I will kill them.

People in other countires DO have the right to defend themselves and their country against our military or any other, it is accpeted in wartime and they are not charged as criminals for doing so. It does not mean I need to be against our military.

If you cannot discuss the topic logically, say so. This is not about civil liberties, military, foreign invasions or anything else. This is about one;s willingness to defend oneself and one's family.

Then I suggest you move to Vermont where we can all carry guns an it is very peaceful just how you like.

That is the most foolish statement I have ever seen you write. There is no logic in that. Guns create violence. Perhaps there is no violence because you folks with the guns don't want there to be. When you want there to be, there is... you guys are the bad guys. You lose your job and you turn to crime. You have a bad day, so you take out your anger by being violent. Your wife leaves you, so you go nuts. I can walk through your city unarmed at any time of night because no one is having a bad day, but then when someone is walking through the city late at night and someone has had a bad day then something violent occurs. Had none of you had guns, then when you each have your bad day then nothing would EVER happen. But since you all have guns... I'd hate to live in that town.

Don't you get it? The folks with the guns ARE the bad guys and you think you folks are "protecting" us folks who don't want a gun.

They call those kind of guys "metrosexuals" and those guys usually marry headstrong gals who work professional jobs and make bucks. The wife usually ends up cheating on her metro sexual husband with a construction worker type of guy who drives a pick up, drinks Bud, man handles her and calls her bad names.
