:thumbs: I have to agree with you. She is damn lucky that was South Carolina, if she pulled that here in Los Angeles, that 10 year old would have smoked her, then taken her candy.

She does it in South Carolina and she lives to call it a joke. If she did here in LA, she gets a ride to the morgue, courtesy of the LA County Coroner.

True...but I think LAPD would have shot the kid too...you have to give cresit to SC that he was released to those who are responsible to raise him and not sent to the morgue....or worse...Child Services.

That's just such a hillbilly mentality. Seriously, that is exactly the way a poorly raised, uneducated hillbilly thinks. I'd like to think that uneducated folks really don't have any say in the matter. Really? It's not ok for people to joke around? I.e. I'm going to steal your candy, little boy. But it's ok for a 10 year old to have a gun? And you wish the gun would have been loaded? God help us. What has happened to folks in this country. Guns kill. You do understand that, correct? Thou shall not kill. I'm not sure what your religion is, but I just don't think there is a religion on earth that says a 10 year old boy should kill someone over a bag of candy... or for any reason. And if you have no religious affliliation, hopefully you at least were taught some sort of morals growing up. What you have posted is just despicable. Myself, nor my children, even knew what a gun was at the age of 10.

Your panties are a little bunched....no one was hurt...

I didn't even watch the video as I do not like to hear about violence. Assuming the intruders were killed, the boy who pulled the trigger should be convicted of murder, no questions asked.

Well, maybe you should watch the video and not assume.

It's the only way to stop someone from unnecessarily using a weapon.

Unnecessarily? Really? The boy saved his sister's life and his own by acting promptly. The intruders had already robbed two other houses in the neighborhood. I genuinely hope you're never in a similar situation, because judging from your posts it seems you would let something happen to your family before taking matters into your own hands.

Hopefully my wife will never be in a position where she will be raped. However, if it did occur or even if "I" was held against my own will, raped by some loony, etc. revenge isn't the solution. Justice, via the law, is the solution.

No worries regarding my vote to take away your rights. By choice, this will be the first election I have ever voted in. I'll be voting for Ron Paul. One of the main reasons is because he gets it both on the economic front and on the war front. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to die, EVER! Those are the 2 concerns I have had for many, many years and no other politician seems to get it, nor have they in the past.

"Hopefully" is not a good plan for defending one's self or family. Just as the kid in that story find himself in a "position" to have to take action, many times it is others that put us in a "position" without our consent that cause us to have to defend against an immediate attack.

It is unfortunate you see causing bodily harm to a person who is intent on cause you bodily harm as "revenge." At that moment of the attack it is called self defense, long after the attack has occured it is revenge.

I'm not trying to change your attitude about self defense or violence, but turning the other cheek or walking away is not always an available option.

That is the good thing about SC, the joker is still upright and the kid is at home with his parents. You are correct, he would have been sent to the dreaded CPS.

Why must one defend themself? According to "the law" it may be self defense, but is it still right? My available options are flee, try to talk my way out of the situation, or suffer the pain and then let the justice system take control. If it happens that I am killed, then it was my time according to the man upstairs. Just because someone threatens you or I doesn't mean we are supposed to become violent ourself. I appreciate you not attempting to change my attitude regarding self-defense or violence. My view may not be the popular view, but one thing is certain... I'll go to sleep each night knowing that I have never harmed nor wished ill will on another human being. And maybe there won't be another night, as maybe I am killed. Those that fight back will have to live with the consequences of their actions for the rest of their life. Legal or not, I prefer to know I lived a morally correct life. Wars appear to be "legal" in the eyes of our government. Do you know how many folks are going to be judged by the man upstairs when it's their time? Legal doesn't always mean morally correct. Guns and weapons in general are a serious flaw to this world. The man upstairs knows and expects us to sin. The problem is people start thinking it's actually ok to injure and kill another.

I carry a gun at all times. We live in the safest state in the US, safer than anywhere in Canada even. Anyone can carry a loaded concealed handgun at any time, any where no permit needed.

If anyone threatens me or my family anywhere, at home, on the street, ANYwhere, I will kill them. Immediately. It would be the second to last thing I would ever want to happen.

If you do not like it....too bad. I will not trade your restrctions on my rights for living in a more dangerous place. I prefer to live where CRIMINALS are in fear of their potential victims.

Incidentally, my wife would find your "plan" for caring for your family to be disgusting.

You really ought to talk to Dr. William Petit. After witnessing his wife and daughters being beaten, raped, and burned alive, I'm sure he can give you some feedback on your pollyanna worldview.... Oh, and while you are at it, tell these two animals that they didn't play by the rules:

Hayes%2C_steven.jpgKomisarjevsky%2C_joshua.jpg

Good luck with that....I hope your theories are never put to the test in your own life. I feel sorry for your family, if that happens.

It's bad enough that civilians can get licenses to carry guns.

This is a scary position! You can't be serious! Are you an American?

Are you familiar with US history?

Assuming the intruders were killed, the boy who pulled the trigger should be convicted of murder, no questions asked. It's the only way to stop someone from unnecessarily using a weapon.

The boy acted legally and was applauded by law enforcement.

His actions have been deemed as necessary. What is it that gives the police the (moral) authority to do violence but not civilians?

When civilians try to start taking the law into their own hands, the whole system falls apart. If you don't have faith in your local police department to come to your aid quickly, then move.

How do you morally justify paying thousands upon thousands of dollars for someone else to come do violence on your behalf when you're more than capable of handling it yourself?

Even teenage boys are capable of handling it yet you're advocating goverment do it for you. That, is unjust. For someone who's a Ron Paul supporter it's amazing to me that you're so into paying the government to do something you and your community should be taking care of on your own.

Part of having liberty is the responsibility to uphold it. When your liberty is violated - even violently - you shouldn't rely on someone else to do something about it. You should take quick, decisive action to ensure your liberty is not trampled upon again.

I don't believe in violence under ANY circumstances. I have no problem with a person trying to defend themself if it can be assured that they will not harm the person that they are trying to defend themself from. More than often, that is not an outcome that is possible. It's always best to turn the other cheek or walk away from danger, violence, etc.

Where are you getting that? It's obviously not the Bible. Even Jesus didn't let people victimize him.

In my personal experience it's always been the "non-violent" spiritually-based people who react with the most violence when they're physically threatened. Something about being sheltered forever and having the "it'll never happen to me" mentality gets absolutely crushed when it does happen. And then they fly off at the handle. "He threatened me!"

Hopefully my wife will never be in a position where she will be raped. However, if it did occur or even if "I" was held against my own will, raped by some loony, etc. revenge isn't the solution. Justice, via the law, is the solution.

LOL'ing again! You can't be serious!

What has happened to folks in this country.

That's a good question. We all used to be shooters and marksmen. Now, we're rapidly becoming wussies who are afraid of guns and unwilling to do violence ourselves when our rights are threatend.

Or forefathers would kick our @$$es. (While we turned the other cheek.)

I agree with you about the licenses but we are working on that. In Vermont we have never needed a license from the government to kill someone that threatens our family. We do not need to ask permission for something that pretty obviously needs to be done.

Recently Arizona, Alaska, and now I undertsand Montana (or maybe Wyoming) have done the same. Allow ANYONE the ability to kill an assailant and crime just about vanishes. Iowa is considering it also. It is referred to as "constitutional carry" and now that 49 states allow concealed carry we are working on getting the rest on board with the concept of FREEDOM and criminals living in fear.

If you do not like it, you can move to Illinois, the only state that forbids everyone from carrying a gun...except criminals. Maybe you can find a nice place on the west side, walking distance from the Stadium, or down around the 5200 block of the Dan Ryan Expwy. Don't worry, the mayor calls in the National Guard now and again to quell the crime.

That's where my buddy lives, although he's more South Side. Nice neighborhood, though. He keeps an AK-47 under his bed so I felt pretty safe while I was there.

I wasn't insinuating that I would want the police to come over and be violent either. My intention would be for the police to come over and arrest someone. If I knew there would be some sort of shootout I would not call them.

I've had a gun pulled on me by 2 guys on a motorbike in Colombia. I simply acted like I had no idea what they said and I walked the other way. End of story. Had they continued on by my side I would have happily given them anything they wanted, no questions asked.

What's your address? I need a little cash, a new TV, heck, I could probably even help myself to your wife.

Are you seriously taking the position of just walking away from crime? As was asked earlier, what if you came home to a man raping your wife? Would you stand there and ask nicely for him to stop?
