Legalize it and treat it like alcohol. Then it would be hard for kids to get.

what are you smoking? like kids can't get cigarette and alcohol? you are way out of touch or you live in the wrong neighborhood if you think this is true.

This is actually true. At least for me and everyone I grew up with and knew. Hard as hell to get alcohol when you are 16 and look like you are 12 to everyone else! You either have to have a cool older brother or sister (none of us had older siblings, if they did, they were out of state or in college). Or you have to have a "cool mom" that buys it for you. We actually did have this. A friend of mine's mom (single lived in a 2 bedroom apt.) bought us alcohol on the weekends.

The other options are steal it from the store or go garage hopping, stand in the parking lot and look for someone that "looks cool", and ask them if they'll buy it (very rare). Or you steal it from your parents.

But weed, everyone knew where to get it. A couple phone calls and you had it within an hour.

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

Why would it be the wrong neighborhood if it is difficult for kids to get cigarettes or alcohol?

Are you kidding me? They can buy pot in gym class, the hallway at school the school parking lot. The city park. You are joking right? They can GROW it in the back of the yard, the wooded area and who would know? They have found lots of the stuff growing in city parks. Right on the "bike path" Just go pick some and roll your own. The sh*t grows wild and you think it is easier to buy beer?

It is far more difficult for them to buy cigs or beer than to buy pot. Simple fact. Not that they can't get beer and cigs, I am sure they can, but it is more difficult. And tobacco cigarettes are more expensive than pot.

I am soooo happy i didnt grow up as a pot head.

Me too. Never tried it. I never have been drunk either. But I promise you, even in my good neighborhood, I can buy pot and would not have to walk as far as the corner store that sells beer and cigs.

I have about the same regard for people that smoke pot as for those that drink alcohol. They chose for themselves. I am not a drinker, I do not "go drinking" and I have no "drinking buddies" I went out with men in Ukraine to the clubs and bars after work as it was more or less "required" but I did not drink alcohol and it was a bit of a problem as it is considered an insult, but I finally convinced them it was not.

all we had to do is stand outside the liquor store and ask people going in to get us some beer and i lived in the boonies.

and if anyone thinks of age folks in neighborhoods that are anywhere near bad aren't going to buy for underage folks, time to get a reality check.

Support for marijuana legalization hits all-time high

By Liz Goodwin | The Lookout – 7 hrs ago

According to Gallup, a record 50 percent of Americans now support legalizing marijuana, up from only 12 percent in 1969, the first time Gallup polled on the issue.

Not surprisingly, support for legalization is highest among liberals and young people, while only 31 percent of people over 65 say pot should be legalized.

Sixteen states allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes, even though the Obama administration says such use is still illegal under federal law.

The poll has a margin of error of 4 points.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I highly doubt you could do that here. In 1975, probably yes. Now? I doubt it. Maybe but it would take a while and by then someone calls the cops and you are out of there. You would have to know someone to do it for you, older brother or something like LI said. I do not think a stranger would do it here. At any rate, there is pot for sale closer to my house than the store that sells beer and they will not ask for ID from anyone.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Why don't we legalize marijuana but make, say, soccer illegal instead? It would be much easier to fight a war against soccer players

I don't know. We'd have to fight the fans too, and some of those fans take that game pretty seriously.
