Greetings to you all!

I was just wondering if anyone could help clarify a question on my case. My husband filed the case for me back in September last year. Both of us are from Mainland, China and currently residing in the US. A month ago NVC completed reviewing my petition and related documents, and forwarded my file to the US Consulate in Guangzhou, China.

My confusion is: I would like to have the visa interview here in the US. And on the I-130 form, I did choose to schedule a visa interview in the US. However, NVC said the Guangzhou Consulate would contact me for visa interview once a visa number is available. So I am a little confused. Should I have to go back to China for the interview? Or Guangzhou Consullate will be handling my case but will arrange the visa interview to be held in the US?

I'd really appreciate if any of you have any knowledge/comments on this, especially those of you had similar experiences.

Thank you all and have a great week!

How did you come to the US, what visa, and are you currently in status, ie your visa is not expired?

If you are currently in the US and in status AND your priority date is current you can file for AOS while here. See this link

are you legally in the US with some type of visa, such as a work visa or student visa? if not, you cannot adjust status in country. spouses of LPR cannot adjust status in the US, they will have the interview in their country of origin. and if you have overstayed a visa for more than a year, once you leave you will have triggered a 10 year ban and will have to file a waiver.

also, when can your husband file for citizenship?
