Hi,

My fiance and I went for our final Interview in The consulate in el salvador. We were denied because she tried to enter the US illegally 2 years ago and has a 5 year ban. The Consulate officer said we needed to apply for the 212 waiver. We were in process of apply and have not yet sent in the 212 application until we got this email today.....

What do you guys think this means?

Does it mean we had our waiver approved?

So confused and any help would be appreciated.

Dear Mr. Moran:

This is in response to your correspondence regarding the fiancé visa case of Ms. Marlyn *****************.

The Embassy has already received Ms. ***************' application for waiver duly approved by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office in El Salvador.

Because some of the documents have expired, Ms. *********' needs to provide the following documents to continue with the process of her case: a recent police record (PNC) from El Salvador and her valid passport.

The Applicant will need to submit the requested documents on Wednesday, October 19, 8:00 am, at the Consular Section. Please note that she will be in list at the entrance were she needs to announce herself stating she has an appointment at Window #8) in the immigrant visa section.

We hope that this information is of assistance to you.

The waiver is accepted but she MUST get a police cert NOW and show up at the appointmet time with the police cert. Hurry. Send her for a new police cert from El Salador. Then go to appointment Oct 19th at 8am with her passport and the police cert. Make sure the passport is not expired or make sure it will not expire within 6 months. If it does then she needs a new one.

Good luck

I do not understand how they can say they received the waiver when you never sent it in. Did you do something else? I hope they did not make a mistake and think you did. Anyway, get the docs they are asking for and get back to the embassy and see what happens. Maybe you got very lucky.

that's exactly what I thought. I really hope it's luck and they messed up somewhere. the consulate officer at the interview told us that she would have been given the visa if not for the ban. she said that once the 212 waiver application that the consulate would get in touch with us for her to come to the embassy with up to date paperwork... ie police record... and her passport. this is weird but hope there is a guardian angel looking out for us!
