Chicago POE, info for you

My inlaws just arrived in Anchorage last night. Their POE was Chicago and they arrived via Swiss Air (from Moscow via Zurich). They report that while there was a very long line at customs, it only took them 15 minutes to make it through - AND they were able to check in for their connecting flight while still there at the international terminal (Terminal 5). They also report they did not have to manually carry the luggage over to Terminal 3 - they took it via the check-in process at Terminal 5. In short, it could not be any easier.

FWIW, they do not speak any English. The flight attendent filled out the I94 for them, using the information my wife provided to her parents via e-mail (which they had printed out). They were not asked any questions at customs.

Overall, the process was pretty painless. I had allowed 4 hours between flights in Chicago, which, as it turns out, was excessive. Their departing flight was an hour late taking off, so they really had five hours. I guess you just never know.

Hope this helps!

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Wow, they're lucky!

(But not really I guess, because in theory.... that's how it SHOULD work.)
