I am bringing my mother to live here with us. couple of question:

If I file in January 2012 how long the process will take?

We are four in family including my wife and 2 kids how much money do I need to make in a year in order to sponser my mom?

What is the total filling fees for this process until my mom gets her visa?

OR

she already have visitor visa valid for 5 yrs.. is it going to be cheaper, quicker to adjust the status from here? Because we want her to be here in states by sept 2012.

thank you

Posted times by USCIS from NOA1 to NOA2 is 5 months, your file may take less time, it may take more time. After NOA2, expect another month to get a case number from the NVC. Then an interview has to be scheduled (that depends on how busy the Embassy is). I would guesstimate 8-10 months from filing to visa issuance.

Your mom will be included in your household count when you complete the Affidavit of Support paperwork. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what you have written, your household count will be 5 (you, your wife, your 2 kids, and your mom). These are the current poverty guidelines. Your income must be 125% of the poverty line for your household size in order to sponsor. You will need to check the I-864P again if you are filing in 2012 to see what the number is for your household size is.

I-130 filing fee (USCIS): $420

Affidavit of Support filing fee (NVC): $88

Immigrant Visa bill (NVC): $404

Nonstarter, entering on a tourist visa with the intent to stay and adjust status is fraud.

Gross income.
