Hello,

My husband and I just submitted our I-130 at the embassy. They told us they would notify us whether or not it will be approved and what steps to take next. We were wondering how long it takes before we can expect that email. Also, what is the next step in the process?

Thank you,

Flora

Me and my wife just sumbitted our DCF paperwork October 21st in Seoul Korea. Im very curious how your process goes as it looks like our filing dates are very close to each other. I am assuming the e-mail will probably come from seoul CIS?

please update here when you do get the e-mail!

Okay I'll start. We filed the 130 petition in May, we for some reason didn't get the NOA letter, but 3 weeks later I contacted them and they said we had been approved. They sent packet 3 very promptly, and so far have been extremely helpful. I must have emailed them about 300 times about different parts of this process; paperwork, appointments and things. They have never been longer than 3 days in responding to my emails, usually it's the next day.

It's best to email them rather than call.

Is your spouse Korean? If they are, then the medical and getting a Korean background check for your spouse will be a lot easier for you than it is for me (my husband is a Kiwi and I'm an American, neither one of us speaks Korean). Our interview date is December 29th (we wanted it that far out because of our work commitments). The husband is going for the medical check next Friday, supposedly he has to get the flu vaccine, a tetanus shot and the shot for chicken pox.

The more organized you are, the more willing they are to help you.

Will definitely post something (somewhere) about how our medical check went, same thing when it comes time for our interview! Good luck to you!

Thank you very much! We are still waiting on the I-130 approval. It's been over 2 weeks and still no email from them. Might be too early or something.. some people here got their I-130 approved in just few days. I am a little worried since my husband's job contract here will end in March. Hopefully the visa will be ready by then. Please keep us updated on the rest of the process. Thank you again.

Aww I wouldn't worry yet (though I feel your pain, our contract is up in March too and I was climbing the walls waiting for the email about the petition). Give them another work, then just send them a sweet email. :-) Keep your chin up! We will post on here again after our medical so we can give you all the inside tips. Make sure you have LOTS of passport photos!
