Hello All, Received our NVC letter on 10/03 . My Fiancee has moved since our original application. A friend suggested I wait about 10 days then call Manila Embassy to update her current address. When I called I was told to update via email. (She told me the NVC was received in Manilla Oct 6) Just for fun I asked the Embassy Representative approximately how long would it be before my fiance could expect to get her letter so she could schedule the interview. Surprisingly she said I could call now, even before she received the letter. I called the appointment center in Manila, They asked for the MNL# Passport# Fiances DOB. Then he asked me for a "preference category code" that he said would be on the NOA. He said it would be a 2 digit code(alpha followed by a number) It is nowhere on the NOA1 or 2. He said to call back when I find it. There is a "Priority Date" box on the NOA but its empty.

#1 Question: Is it indeed possible to schedule the interview before my fiance receives her first letter from Manila Embassy?

#2 Does anyone know about this "preference code"

# 3 Is the letter sent certified? Where concerned it will be sent to her old address.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

I am one of those K1 beneficiary who had not received any from the embassy. I was done with my interview and it was never a problem. Not sure if others have a different experience with this. As to the visa delivery, I had it set for me to pick it up.

Yes, you can schedule without the letter from the embassy, some beneficiary do not receive it... I am not familiar with the preference code though... I only provide the MNL CAse # and it was okay...

These are the documents that your fiancee needed, also states how to schedule the interview http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/19452/public/Revised%20K1%20Instruction%20Packet%20_3__rtf2_003.pdf

Goodluck!!!

Hi! Preference code is: k1, I found that out when I emailed nvc to inquire my mnl #, when they replied they wrote all the beneficiary info, petitioner info as well as the prefence #which is k1, they also wrote the priority date which is the date when yhey received my -129f, so I am very sure that's what prefence # the operator in manila is asking for u. Hope that helps! God bless!
