Currently in the bottom 50%, but we own our house free and clear and don't spend much on drink, clothes or vacation, only have one car. So even with three kids we can still live very comfortably.

If you pay income taxes, you are automatically in the top 53%. If you are not paying income taxes, you probably can't afford to support an immigrant. I am just saying...

You only have to meet the 125% poverty level, and $33,000 is above that for just about everyone with up to 5 kids (really?, that's how we define poverty? $33,500 with 6 kids? I think you met poverty well before that!).

My point exactly. Perhaps they should raise the income requirements to sponsor an immigrant. But, then again, with both adults working, it shouldn't be that hard to join the top fifty percentile.
