How long before NVC gets file from USCIS?

Hi All

My I-130 petition for my mother was approved on September 28th 2011 and as of today it seems NVC has still not received the file from USCIS. Judging from other's timeline not sure why it's taking this long. Does anyone know how long it takes before NVC assigns a case number? Also anything else I should consider e.g. talking to a representative?

Thanks

Unfortunately, since this summer, NVC has been going through a backlog. It's been taking about 3-4 weeks from NOA2 to case number being assigned. I'd say within the next two weeks you should get a case number for your mother's case. Just keep calling the NVC operators each day to see if the case number has been assigned.

Since it's an IR-5 case, packages have to be submitted to NVC. It's not like K-1 cases which zoom through NVC and not submit anything.

Thanks guys....just received my case number today. Seems like it is taking longer. I can't seem to find a thread I saved earlier on next steps. Does someone have the link for that?
