Hi everyone,

my husband and I are currently filing for my immigration visa through the Embassy in Frankfurt, Germany (DCF).

We've had our first apointment about 10 days ago to complete step 1 and while at the Embassy I filled out my DS-230 which got accepted right then and there.

Back home (and 10 days later!) I realize that not only did I forget to mention 3 more entries to the USA, but I also gave the wrong answer to question #31 ("Have you committed or been charged with a felony or crime"). I checked "No", compeltely forgetting that I did get charged with causing an accident while under the influence of alcohol, back in 2008. The thing is that the accident happened in Germany, but at that time I was living (and registered) in my homecountry which is not Germany. I did get charged under the German law, but my police records from my home country are clean.

Now what should I do? Imediately contact the USCIS unit at the Embassy or should I organized the court documents and take them with me to the upcoming Visa Interview? I am freaking out that this could be a reason for denying my immigration visa.

Thanks for yor help and have a great day everyone!

I personally would contact USCIS and would let them know and then also take the documents to the interview unless they say something else when you contacted the USCIS.

IR1/CR1 Visa - DCF at London Embassy

April 16, 2013: Mailed out I-130

April 18, 2013: Date Petition filed
May 13, 2013: APPROVED!
May 22, 2013: Case Number received

Unfortunately I have to re-do it in 6 + weeks as I was diagnosed with pneumonia
June 22, 2013 I traveled to the USA with the plan of returning to the UK, spoke to a Immigration lawyer and he told me to change my status and go the AOS route.
Since 2014 I am a permanent resident.

You will need a police Certificate from germany, Also i would let them know ALWAYS be honoust, if you not it will cause you problems, also on the police certificate from germany it will say if you have been convicted of anything .

That is what I thought, but strangely enough both my German police records show no entry. Now obviously, those police certificates are from a different city than the city in which I had my accident, but they still show up as "clear". I think I will call the USCIS unit next week and see what I can do about that. Maybe I can send them a new, updated DS-230 form?

Hi there

I am not familiar with germany Police certificate, but if the Germany certificate should cover the whole country, and it still says "clear" then dont worry and leave it, but you must have a certificate for every country you have lived in, and you should add the 3 entries that you missed, but like i said if that certificate is less than one year old and saus "clear" for the whole country then leave it and their is nothing to worry about... thats my opinion...

Thanks for your input! Just to be sure, every certificate can be older than 6 months but not exceed 12 months, correct? Just making sure because one of them will have been issued for 8 months by the time we have our interview. Again, thank you very much for the help!

Hi there,

Yes but make sure they wont be older than 1 year, cause then you will have to get new one's, if you see they are coming close to the one year mark, then i would get new ones for just in case..good luck

Don't depend on opinions here about police certificates--every country is different. For example, in Costa Rica it is good for 90 days. You MUST contact the embassy and ask them directly what they expect. Just because NVC will let it through does not mean that the embassy will accept it.

Is there a possibility to have USCIS destroy the first DS-230 form and resubmit a new, updated one? That would be the best solution, especially since we are under no strict time pressure.
