We filed our K1 visa March 2011 in the US

Approved through USCIS end of May 2011. Contacted Mumbai Embassy for update.

Approved through NVC mid June 201.

Waited for packet #3 but didnt hear from anyone. We then contacted Mumbai Embassy they emailed us the packet 3. We downloaded packet 3 from the Mumbai website. Submitted packet 3 to VFS mid July 2011.

Contacted Mumbai again for packet 4 they emailed us interview letter and medical examination information telling us to download packet 4 online July 2011.

Went to Mumbai for medical exam and submitted this with packet 4 documents to VFS the first week of August 2011.

Interview done in Mumbai in mid August. Interview was tough but we were very prepared. We were given a 221g requesting proof of Wedding plans showing receipt of payment, invitations, proof of relationship(again) and guest list. This was all submitted with a detail list giving phone bills, emails, photos, plane tickets, hotel receipts, train tickets and letters.

We waited and waited.. contacting DOS weekly for updates. We finally got a call the first week of October stating there is a packet waiting for us. The packet contained a letter stating "administrative processing complete, please submit your passport and refusal letter to VFS" within minutes I turned around in submitted my passport and refusal letter to VFS.

After 3 days we got a text message saying your passport has been sent. We contacted VFS for an update they stated they could not tell us what the decision was so we called DOS and they gave us notification that the visa was APPROVED! the next day we received the Passport and yellow packet was received being told NOT to open this yellow packet.

YEAH we got approval! After 8 months from the day my fiance filed the application in the USA we got our approval. This was the most difficult time for us, but we never gave up. We continued to follow up with DOS which helped us through the process.

After spending time with my family for Diwali I am going to see my fiance again. the ticket has been purchased. We couldnt be happier. Never give up and depend on each other. It is difficult but if you work through this together and keep good documents and are prepared everything will work out. Thank you all for your postings, they helped tremedously while going through this process. Good luck everyone. If any one has any questions that we can help with let us know.

Glad you got through this part.

The rest of the process is easier simply because you won't be doing it alone.

Congrats.
