I lost my job.. now what?!

I lost my job after we filed our I-130. I do not get unemployment benefits because I was considered a self employed independent contractor. I'm now a poor college student living off of student loans, savings and the little bit hubby sends me every month.

My sister has agreed to be a sponsor (she's an attorney so she makes way above the poverty level guidelines)

My question is, do I still file as the sponsor and my sister as a co-sponsor, or will my sister be the primary sponsor?

I know hubby will be eligible for EI after he moves, since he is moving because of marriage. With the EI and savings we're not concerned how we'll pay the bills until one of us finds a job, but the gov'ment might not see it that way.

As for assets, we own our home (well the bank owns it lol) and all our vehicles are paid for and in both our names. My husband has substantial savings and investments that my name is not on. Will they take his assets that he owned before our marriage in to consideration?

You still file an i864 as main sponsor but she will also fill out an i864 as co sponsor

if your husband's savings are sufficient to cover the sponsorship then you can use them. But if they won't be enough then don't bother listing them, as you will need to rely on your sister's co-sponsorship anyway.
