My current yearly income is above poverty level, but in 2008, 2009 and 2010 I was below. Due to my last 3 years income being below poverty level, will I need to have a co-sponsor to meet the income requirements even though in the current year of 2011 I meet the requirements?

It's not always possible to be definitely sure. The sponsor needs to have current income and assets which meet the minimum requirements at the time the affidavit is submitted, as well as when the immigration benefit is approved. However, they have some discretion in determining whether the sponsor's income will likely continue to meet the requirements for the foreseeable future, and they can use their past income history to help make this determination. Some people in similar circumstances have been successful, and others have been told to get a joint sponsor.

It's always better to be safe than sorry.
