On October 7, 2011 our case was scheduled for an interview at our local office in Jacksonville for November 10, 2011. Today we received a letter from our local office telling us our appointment had been cancelled and was rescheduled for November 14, 2011.(no changes on uscis website of different interview date) No reason it was just rescheduled.... Now after reading some post from past filers they were denied for not showing up at the original appointment. So we are stuck wondering what should we do??? Drive the 180 miles miss a day of work and show up on the 10th for the original appointment with the chance of being turned away because we were rescheduled only to then have to drive 190 miles and miss another day of work to attend the rescheduled appointment 4 days later... It all makes me alil nervous. So if it were you what would you do?? Do you think we can trust the rescheduled appointment letter from our local office??

I would call USCIS and confirm the appointment change. And of anything I would go to the rescheduled interview. You have a piece of paper proving that it was sent. So if they try to say that you missed your original appointment, you have paper proof showing that they messed up and rescheduled your appointment.

Best of luck!

We may do just that. If it was more than 4 days after the original I would be more concerned with why they cancelled it.. Thanks for the advice. This whole process is nerve racking! We made it this far we sure don't want anything to get messed up now:(

My interview was also cancelled and was sent another letter for another date. The only difference is my status was changed to the new date.So continue checking your status and if no change I would call USCIS to confirm.I know how you feel, coming this far and wanting to mess up.Have faith everything will be ok.

Thank you very much for your input I am going to give uscis a call next week. Just have a feeling they will tell me the same thing I see which is interview for the original date.. Maybe a tier 2 could see more? Iam thinking we will also try writing the local office and see if they reply. No high hopes there dealing with the uscis has been so frustrating!

I would attend the original appointment. I would prefer not to risk it. If you are denied for not attending it might not be as simple as just showing up to the second appointment. They'll tell you their system says different and now their system has you as denied so you'll have to go through X process that takes months to review to fix it. Up to you of course but you have the original appointment letter so you shouldn't have a problem with that.

Agreed. Show up for the original appointment with that appointment letter. If they try to tell you then that you've been rescheduled, act innocent & confused and say that you have this letter that tells you to show up today -- and you're here now and expect to be interviewed today.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Can you call the local office to check?

No they can't and in this process missing a day of work should never be a priority or even a consideration.

I would make an inforpass appointment and drive the 180 miles and take a day off work and go to the local office to sort it out

Local offices give the NBC certain availabilities for appointments and keep the rest for other requests. The NBC assigns you a date and time from the available dates and times they are given by the local office. If you GO TO the local office, they can assign you other dates and times, possibly much sooner.

Concern yourself with the process, not if you have to drive or take off work. Yes it is an inconvenience.

People have been denied for not attending the originally scheduled interview, and USCIS was not the least bit interested in looking at the letter for the rescheduled interview appointment. They were told their only recourse was to submit an appeal for the denial or refile, both at considerable extra expense. There have also been cases where someone got a rescheduled interview appointment letter, but they showed up on the originally scheduled date and time and they were interviewed and approved.

It's better not to take any risk. Like the infamous lost medical exam files, this is a case where the government will hold you responsible for their mistakes.

1million% agree. This is what I was saying. It's not as simple as showing them the "new" interview date. They'll see you're denied on the system and you'll have to go through quite the process to undo it. Totally not worth the risk... either emotionally or financially.

I would go attend the Original date scheduled. You don't wanna risk the whole process. If they wouldnt want to conduct the interview on that date then be back on the 14th. Better be safe than sorry.
