Intermission: Watch a 1950s Housewife Drop Acid

In this remarkable video, a utterly normal, straight-edge housewife volunteers for a government study in which she's administered LSD. In her pre-drop interview, she comes across as upstanding, demure, polite and, well, pretty square.

And then she trips balls. The interviewer is visibly amused.

Psychedelics are experiencing a bit of a recreational renaissance, buoyed by new research suggesting substances such as magic mushrooms may, in fact, have significant long-term positive effects. Not that we advocate illegal drug use, even when it does have hilarious effects...
