I just wanted to say thank you to all the people that gave advice to us during this journey. My wife went in today for the 3rd time and was approved. Our case was put in AP due to my divorce decree having some questions, but in the end it all worked out. We were only in AP for about a week and a half so I am grateful for that. She will pick her visa up on the 18th of this month. This sight really gave great insight and stories to help navigate the immigration waters.

09/12/13 - Case transferred to CSC. NOA2 received on 09/18/13

08/30/13 - Biometrics Done - No walk ins allowed at this LSC (received on 8/16/13).

08/05/13 - NOA1 (received on 08/10/13)

08/01/13 - Mailed I-751 (received on 8/2/13 - check cashed on 8/5/13)

12/28/11 - Received SSN (applied on 12/20/11, as we didn't get based on DS-230 options)
11/28/11 - Received Green Card (Expires on 10/30/13) - Welcome Letter on 11/17/11

Divorce decree of USC here in U.S?

Yes, because my first wife deserted me while I was stationed overseas and she went back to Europe I had to get a Mexican Divorce. Good thing I paid extra for the Apostille and had the government stamp on it.

The interview was crappy because a couple of months prior she filed for a tourist visa to come visit and she was turned down by the CO. Bad thing was, the CO was the same guy who interviewed her for the I-130. So I can see why he was looking at my case funny. Once he saw the decree the red flag went up and we were put in AP. So they went and got an Advisory Opinion from DOS, after that she came back for a 3rd interview and was approved. But honestly, only a week and a half of AP isn't bad compared to most of the cases I see on here so I cant even complain.

How did they get an Advisory Opinion from DOS? Doesn't the CO already know you were divorced from the up front paperwork?

How did they get an Advisory Opinion from DOS? Doesn't the CO already know you were divorced from the up front paperwork?

That's the thing, my wife had all the paperwork with her, but she only had copies of my divorce decree. I think the CO thought something was fishy with her tourist visa and Immigrant visa being so close to each other. We thought the process would take 6-8 months at least, so it was a surprise when we made it through in 4 months. So he went in looking for something and the divorce decree was the red flag.
