Question on a background check

Just wondering if there is a way to maybe order a background check prior to our NOA2 coming back? My fiance' worked in a country other than her own for over 6 months last year, and it states something along the lines that, if you have spent more than 6 months out of your country in the past X years you have to get a police background check done from that country.

It supposedly takes approx 3 weeks for this background check to come back. It would be nice to be able to order the police check while we are waiting for the NOA2 and to not add an additional 3 weeks to the wait, however you have to use a form that is in the NOA2 to order this report. I've called our visa people up here in the states and they said they can't access the forms.....

Has anyone found a way around this wait, if at all possible?

Which country is it?

For most, you can get a police cert by contacting the local embassy of that country.

She worked in Egypt...she went to the Egyptian embassy in Manila and they said they can only do it with the form that comes in the NOA2...so I called the Visa people here in the States and they said they can't access papers from packages as I am requesting and to just ask the Embassy to do it without the form....so you can see where we are now, lol.

Prob nothing can be done, just trying to save time.

Ummm... background check... You mean police certificate( yes almost sounds the same)

Well, what about trying to contact the police dept. from Egypt or getting info how to request one directly from them??

Maybe the embassy is just making it more difficult that what it seems.

Good luck and sorry for putting my 2 cent with no clear answer.

You are welcome.

No other way but do as they say.

If my calculations are right, your timing might not be as bad as u think.

Just scan that NOA2 once you get it and email it too your Fiancee ASAP; it takes around a month or less for each case to get to their Embassy of destination so you should be fine.
