Regarding IV case status of HOSSAIN AHMED (DHK2006503010)‏

Dear Ms. Barshon,

Thank you for contacting the US Embassy, Dhaka.

This is in response to your inquiry of October 11, 2011.

U.S. government policy restricts the disclosure of visa information to petitioner, beneficiaries and attorneys with properly executed Forms G-28 on file with our office. Accordingly, we regret that we are unable to provide a substantive response to your request for information. You may advise the applicant/s or the petitioner to contact us directly via e mail.

We hope the above information is helpful.

Sincerely,

Immigration Visa Unit

Consular Section

U.S. Embassy, Dhaka

Bangladesh

what does this mean? what exactly a FORM G-28 is?

If you are not petitioner or benefeciary they can't legally provide you the information about the case. This is why they sent you this letter.

G 28 = www.uscis.gov/files/form/g-28.pdf

Purpose of Form : To provide notice that an attorney or accredited representative of a religious, charitable, social service or similar organization will appear before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on behalf of a person involved in a matter before USCIS. Number of Pages : 3 Edition Date : 04/22/09; (09/26/00 also accepted) Where to File : With the application or petition being submitted. If you are filing at a lockbox, important filing tips, as well as additional information on fees and customer service, are listed on our Lockbox Filing Tips webpage.

I am guessing you are the petitioner, and you gave your consent earlier to hand over all responsibility to the lawyer? That's where it is right now.

Agree 100% with Yasieyasie.

We have to more careful about the putting personal information. Looking at this case number someone can easily figure out that Hossain Ahmed's case was approved by USCIS in January 03, 2006. Someone with more information can figure out lot more. I saw a posting on this site that someone received an email with some personal information stating that person has won a Diversity Visa and can follow all the formalities sending USD xxxx.xxx to a certain address (address in UK). The scammers would pray on such personal information.

However, @barshon: Little bit more information could be helpful, information like:

1. case type

2. your relationship to the beneficiary

3. A timeline is tremendously helpful for others to make some assessment

Thanks,
