I suspect he or she didn't do well in math....because per their description they likely ARE in the 99% group mathematically.

In other words, he/she is not a victim. The attitude of that young person is what is important.

"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!" - Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945.

The top 1% in this country have an AGI of $380K or above (tax year 2008).

That attitude may guarantee him a life off the welfare rolls but it won't guarantee him 380K or up.

Of course there are no guarantees whatsoever that person will get into the 1%, an AGI of $380K is not necessary

to enjoy a good lifestyle.

When I graduated Goldman or Morgan Stanley would not even talk to you at 3.8. Yes, you get lots of interviews, but not the primo wall street firms.

Things haven't changed. A 3.8 might get you an entry level pee-on job with these firms if you are lucky and know someone that can pull some strings. But no six figures and no fast track to them either. Down here it's even worse. A lot of college grads are royally fcuked these days.

3.8 gets you into firms like Deloitte though. Not all that bad, but not the big wall street bucks.

Sorry, didn't realize you were referring to Wall Street Firms.
