Being in the country during the application process

Hi All,

My fiance and I are planning to start the K1 visa process. My fiance is from Chile but will be out of the country on and off for the next year (traveling for work to China). We plan to start applying for the fiance visa towards the end of his stay in China. This shouldn't be a problem correct? As long as he receives mail from the Embassy stating what forms he needs to bring to his interview and when his interview is? He will have a mailing address in Chile and someone to collect his mail for him. We were thinking of starting the visa process 3-4 months before he is scheduled to be back in Chile. Is this crazy??

i've seen others in sort of same situation.. say you can have one embassy send info to another embassy.. there is a ghana student in nigeria.. i don't know the thread off hand.. this was informed of this option.. just dig around somemore..

This shouldn't be a problem at all. As long as he has an address in Chile and someone he trusts to pass on information, you'll be fine. And your timing seems about right - you'd definitely need him to be here about a month and a half before the possible interview date - to do the doctor's visit, collect papers - and applying about 3 to 4 months before he's here in Chile would put him on the right track.
