Why is everyone here (except Bob) talking about submitting evidence for AOS/ROC. Naturalization doesn't require that much evidence.

Basically just joint taxes to prove you've filed your taxes as required by law and are still married.

Because they don't read the VJ Guide to Naturalization and they are apparently not getting it intellectually either.

Sad, but true.

We can try to guide the blind, but not if they insist on runing in the opposite direction.

I've given up giving advice to people who ask for advise but then ignore it.

Let them do what they want to do. Why do we care . . .

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Hm other guides I have read suggest it is important to prove the marriage beyond the tax receipts. I rather send in more than too little, I would hate to delay the process because my case worker wants to have extra much evidence. Better safe than sorry. But that's how I have done all my paperwork and it worked out wonderfully.

Just advised them to wait another couple of years, that is when all this marriage evidence is not required. Just too many IO's carry this marriage bit way overboard. They don't have to drive an extra 450 miles to bring in more evidence, but you do. Could just invite the US citizen spouse in have them both take an oath they are still married and forget all that paperwork.

May even get an IO that already knows the hell the USCIS put your through with the AOS and ROC stages and just checks to learn if you have been naughty for the last year. But just like winning the lottery, also takes good luck to get an IO like that. Do you feel lucky?
