I will be accompanying my husband to his interview next month and we are growing anxious and worried. The evidence/proof, answers to questions, etc...everything is on point....but because Santo Domingo has a high fraud rate, will they even give us a chance?? Is it true what i hear that they basically already know their decision before you arrive? So many people never present evidence but either get approved or denied.

Does anyone have any input on this?

Meaningful counsel would require an understanding of the circumstances of your relationship and familiarity with your evidence of bona fides. Is this REALLY a K3 visa interview?

It was initially a K3, then NVC said they would administratively close and go the CR1 route but because they took over a month to process the I-130 and Santo Domingo had given my husband an interview, we were told to continue on with the K3.

My concern is that, because I don't see many K3's on this site, its difficult for me to compare or get a good idea of how this will be treated/recognized once we are at the interview. Our marriage is as bona fide as it gets, i visit him every 6 weeks, we have over 200 pictures from different occasions, an endless amount of communication exchanges, etc.......should i be concerned?

Before I did my AOS, I've always felt like there was nothing to worry about. I've always had this feeling of

"grill us if you will" - like nothing bad could happen nor would my petition be denied since we do have a bona fide marriage. However, after my friend's petition got denied, I felt like anything can happen and the best way to combat denials is to prepare well for your application/interview. My friend's marriage is not fake. We've been with them on trips, dinners etc. They live in the same apartment- I know because we're always there for dinners/lunch :P ALWAYS! LOL. That's why it was a big shock to all of us when my friend's petition got denied and she had to go through deportation procedures- which she fought off with a lawyer. For me, it's the wasted time and more importantly the MONEY YOU HAVE TO PAY the lawyer to prove bona fide marriage that's aggravating. It's just not worth all the hassles and the money to prove something which is supposedly not very hard to prove given that the marriage is real. So, in my opinion, be well prepared for this.

I honestly see no reason why MY NAME should be added to all of our bills.

DWP for example, asks for a deposit ($125 if I remember it right) just to add my name on the bill. This is because I have no record with them (since I am a new immigrant) We did pay the deposit because we don't want things like this to cause problems on my ROC. :hehe:

I had my relatives from a far away country and my spouse's relatives from other states write us a snail mail

just so we have written proofs that our relatives know us as a couple. It was weird asking them for it especially in these days of emails and cyber-everything! My brother was like whhhhaaat? snail mail????!!

I don't like pictures because I just don't like it. When I was younger, I would ask my brother to edit all my pictures to make my nose smaller, to take out the zits, to make my arms smaller, lol. I just hate having my pictures taken! But in the name of AOS, I had to have pictures with my husband. And he posted it online.

Just be prepared by saving as much proof as you can and CREATING more proofs if you can. Goodluck!

Just think of it as any other spouse visa interview. Your strongest evidence of a bona fide relationship is the time you spend together, so make certain you document your visits and are prepared to answer questions about them including dates and duration.

I love your response and I very much appreciate you sharing that with me. People tend to give generic answers and although they are helpful sometimes, its good to know there is someone out there that has been through it or is closely familiar with it. I will be armed and ready with tons of evidence, I'm just hoping they take the time to look at it. I am nervous...and I'm not surprised that I am since I tend to be very pessimistic....lol..... but I really feel we have an 80% chance on this. And as you said...it's truly unfair to put a price or timeline on love ......

thanks again

I don't believe before you arrive they already have their decision made.. they probably have doubts or see red flags on the case, but once the interview is given is when they make there decision.

:ot: Is rare because for my interview I took more than 200 pictures of different ocaccions and I had than all in order.. and many other evidence and the guy didn't even bother I took my affidavit, and all my paper work that was sent out to NVC, and the I-130 petition I original sent out I took ALL THOSE PAPERS JUST IN CASE and not one paper was ask for.

Than I see other peoples review in which the consul wants to see all the pictures, and paper work... so just go prepare because for everyone is different.

Go with a confident positive attitude, and always say the truth no matter what. You will do fine.

I agree....I have saved every little piece of paper since the beginning and I'm going to bring it all with me. I guard it with my life and have it tabbed already in chronological order of filing/receipt......soon I'll be printing all the pictures and getting those together. I'm excited....I think if they say YES i may just hug the interviewer...lol

I would suggest reading everyone's reviews of their interview experiences in the DR. Having everything organized is a plus...remember there is only a narrow slot between you and the interviewer. I had our evidence in a binder with plastic sheets that could be removed if necessary. I also put the photos in a small album that fit about 150 4" x 6" photos.

I wanted to hug our interviewer too but they are behind the glass counter! He did give us a big smile and said "have a good life together, you two" which I thought was really sweet.

Good luck. Don't stress. You two will do fine and your love will be here before you know it :)

If you wish to obsess about the possibility of denial, you could read the interview experiences of people who interviewed at the Santo Domingo Embassy.

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

I believe that it is approved/denied/red flagged before interview is given. I saw the green card when we deposited our papers. Also during the interview after we were asked our names, the CO asked my husband to sign a form than the CO approved it before asking any other questions. I also brought a recent affidavit, copies of all the evidence, petitions, 200+ photos and all he looked at was my passport and wedding pictures which I had a separate folder.

Iv read myself crazy with all of the interview stories and they pretty much all say little to no evidence is requested, although I'm going with a suitcase full regardless..

Thankfully I'm a very organized person and have been sorting/ organizing since day 1.
