Hello,

So I have been browsing this website and the USCIS one. I think I understand how traveling outside the US works but I would just like to have a confirmation.

- While my AOS, I need an approved AP to be able to leave the US for a trip as long as it is a justified one (I believe a honeymoon is not a good reason?)

- once I get conditional permanent residency: I can leave the US as I want as long as I do not stay more than a year abroad.

Did I get it right?

Thanks

You can travel on your AP card for whatever reason you want to.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Correct. Since your AOS is a combo, AP + WP + GC, you should get the AP + WP before GC comes. And you can use the AP to travel (returning up to the date specified on the AP paperwork, which is normally a year after granted)

You should be able to travel for whatever reason you want, the AP paperwork allows you to come back into the US. And 1 year seems to be the limit from what I read.

However, if you wish to apply for US citizenship, you will need 5 continuous years where you stayed in the US for more than 6 month each year. If you leave for say 7 month, then the clock starts over.

Best wishes,

AP is not paperwork - it is a new COMBO card that is AP and EAD card in one there are no papers for AP.

You cant stay out for 1 year on AP thats only with the travel permit that you can stay out for 1 year.

the AP paperwork allows you to come back into the US.
Not in every circumstance. CBP can refuse re-entry for any reason that a consulate might deny permission to enter. If you've had any overstays in your past, don't risk traveling with the AP; wait for your green card.

If you're intent on traveling with use of the AP, be very sure to have a copy of your marriage certificate with you, too. In fact, this is an excellent idea even when you're NOT traveling, until you get your green card.
