LOL, that is the exact date we are looking at for her arrival and she lives in Odessa as well!

Did you purchase via a broker or directly from Aerosvit?

Orbitz.com

ODS to JFK

Hurry because I've noticed that flights less than a month away tend to be way more in price. I bought my ticket this past Monday.

Good options from Odessa (time wise) are Aerosvit, Lot and Transaero. Aerosvit is most unreliable out of them. Flights, departing Odessa, late most of the times. My parents flew by Aerosvit 2 times, and both times missed a connection to NY. If time permits - I would suggest LOT or Trasaero. First - there is no running from building to building, to change flights, in Warsaw and Moscow, also she will not have to go through Kyiv Customs (very unpleasant people, comparing to Odessa and Moscow). LOT flies to Newark as well, and then you can get one of 7 direct flights from Newark to FLL on Continental, for example. If you go with Aerosvit, get early departure from Odessa, that involves 5 hours of layover, instead of 1.5, this way you can be sure - she won't miss connecting flight.

So, the good news. Our K1 was approved :)

We are now looking for flights into the US.

Does anyone know if we can travel through two Schengen countries on a Ukrainian passport with US K1 VISA and no transit VISA for said countries?

Once she arrives stateside immediate air travel within the US on her passport is not an issue, correct?

Travel within the US is no problem. She needs a transit visa to pass through more than ONE Shengen visa country. Going through ONE is OK, more than one and she needs a transit visa.

Have you looked at Donetsk? A couple of years ago, they had a convenient LH flight from DOK to Frankfurt or Munich (I don't remember which) and then LH or UA to the States.

Yes, goes through Munich. We have used that flight several times. we have had better luck the last couple of years by buying separate tickets BTV to JFK then JFK to KBP and then to Donetsk.

In my case a one-way ticket cost $3000, while a round-trip was about $1000  I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked up the prices for the first time, this is ridiculous.

Happens that way sometimes but not always. Just buy the lowest price. A one way is OK if that is the best deal.

Be careful flying LOT. I flew once and was delayed several hours. They put me up in a hotel overnight and I was informed by the desk person there that LOT was notorious for late arrivals and missed connections! Otherwise they treat you well and the Warsaw airport is a good one. Getting a longer layover is definitely a good idea to lessen your chance of a missed flight.

My step daughter is moving here from Russia on November 12th. Bought her a one way ticket on a direct Transaero flight from Moscow to Miami for $428 plus $128 taxes and fees, $556 total price.
