My NOA2 was approved September 29, 2011. I tried my luck to call NVC to get our MNL Case Number so we don't need to wait for the letter to arrive in The Philippines and we can go ahead and pay our visa fee and setup an interview and do her medical at St. Luke's.

Well I called today October 12, 2011 and the operator asked me for my receipt number and what my NOA2 stated. My NOA2 states "The above petition has been approved and has been forwarded to the listed consulate." I asked her for my MNL Case Number# and she told me that our letter stated that our petition has been sent directly to the consulate. I told her that I don't think that works that way. That the NVC receives the petition and mails it to the consulate. She said no... that was it states on my petition and that's where it went. I asked her well do you know if I have my MNL Case number assigned already? She said no, she doesn't know since the petition should go to the consulate and that she has no info on my petition arriving at the NVC.

I told her ok and thanks and hung up the phone. I knew already I was dealing with someone who didn't know what was going on.

I am thinking that I called to early since its only been 12 days since our NOA2 was approved and probably didn't arrive at the NVC yet. So that might be the reason why it doesn't state on her computer that our petition arrived at the NVC.

Anyone had to deal with this sort of thing? Should I wait another week and call again and request a supervisor if the next operator doesn't know what's going on?

I would really like to setup our interview ASAP so I can go ahead and buy my plane ticket and can make plans to take off work since I'm going to attend my fiancee's interview in person with her.

You are absolutely right. Your petition will go to the NVC, the NVC will assign it an MNL case number, and then the NVC will ship it to Manila.

You need to talk to a tier 2 employee next time.

You might have called the NVC a bit early because It's my understanding that the petitions are taking longer to reach the NVC right now. Try again in a few days, and talk to a supervisor.

It took my petition 31 days to get assigned a case number. NOA2 on June 17th and i received the case number on July 18th. Then I didn't receive the DS-3032 or AOS invoice until August 25th so sometimes the NVC is reaallllly slow!

Call them every other day. That is what we did until we got the manila case #. We also emailed them. After 34 days we got the case #.

A couple of days later, we got the email, too with the pertinent information. I scanned it and sent it to Patty in case she needed it.

Don't worry, once you have your case #, the rest of the journey goes as fast as you want it to go. Good luck!

I agree. Call every day. My NOA 2 was 23 Sep and I got my MNL on 11 Sep and I already have an appointment for 3 Nov. I usually call after 6 becuse the call volume is lower and most posting for the day have been done. As soon as you get your MNL case number go ahead and pay your fee. Later that day you should be able to schedule your appointment. Don't wait on the package to get to Manila. That will 1-2 two more weeks to the process. .

You can't. What do you mean by case status ? Once you have your MNL the only thing left is interview and Medical.
