Just treat them as your own and care for them. Kids are not stupid. There is no need to say a bad word about anyone else ever, I hope no one ever does that, it is poison. People, children, everyone quickly understands who cares for them and that is worth more than any objects, money, papers anything.

Who is their father, the man who donated his sperm for their creation and never did anything else for them?

OR...

The man who has dealt with the daily issues of having deaf 2 year old, fought with doctors the get him Cochlear Implants, takes him to his appointments which include Speech Therapy, Aural Habilitation, Surgical follow-ups and Implant Programming?

The man who puts a roof over their heads, provides for their every need, cooks them breakfast, taught them how to play with trucks & LEGO?

Nobody in this thread is saying you guys aren't great fathers... what we're saying is you're not the biological fathers and therefore, you shouldn't be on the birth certificates.

Are you disagreeing with that? If so, what is the justification of having your name on the birth cert of a kid you did not father? I understand erasing all record of the deadbeat d!ckhead who didn't take care of his kid but I don't think you do that by putting your name in there instead. Should we really do that?

You realize that government documents/records are merely legal records. They record who the LEGAL PARENTS are. I wouldn't have a problem with there being a section on the BC that states who provided the biological material but to give him the label of Father is offensive to me. Carlo already knows that I'm not his bio-father. He prefers me and wants to have my name. When the time is right Gabby will also know the facts of his conception.

Seeing as the Birth Certificate is a Legal Record and Biological/Adoptive parent have rights (as do Bio/Adoptive children) that the Step parent/child relationship doesn't bestow upon them I think it's fitting to provide documentation to say that I am legally their father without having to present a signed court order.
