we were planning to get married and were going to eventually put in fiancee visa but we would like to put in a tourist visa first to come in the US to spend time together temporarily and meet my family ,im wondering if that would be the fastest way to be together...were planning to put in fiancee visa while shes here in the US and while waiting for the process of fiancee visa were spending time together, one of the reason too why we cant apply for fiancee visa right now is shes still married and on the process of annulment in her home country when that's finished we can start the fiancee visa even shes still in the US ,if its smart to do it that way...i hope u all can help both of us.. were really trying to figure everything out whats the best thing to do..

Does your girl has the assets for a tourist visa? off hand I forget what the requirements are but they are steep in the Phills.

As for the annulment that is a lengthy process I wouldn't plan on a visa until the judge says it's complete.YMMV

Good luck

Bob

I dont want to be all negative but theres really not so much a fast and easy way. But anything is possible. For the philippines it can be hard to get a tourist visa but if she has property, family and a job or business there that is the general requirements. Think I remember something about finances showing she can pay her own way on a vacation. What they are looking for is alot of reasons she will come back and no reasons she will try to stay in US. If she has a fiance in US thats a big reason to stay. The only one I personally know that got a tourist visa owns a bar in Cebu and a house. Maybe some who have gotten a tourist visa can chime in but this is what I have always been told. Wish you luck with your anullment, I have seen it take from 3 months to 5 years. Jim.

shes still married and on the process of annulment in her home country

Annulment is very costly and grueling. It may take years to finalize it depending on your lawyer, your case and money. If she has already a tourist visa, then good. But if not, that's another difficult thing to get specially is your fiancee is not well off. I mean she needs to have a high paying and stable job, got a car, nice house and profitable business.

teapotgurl is right on both counts and as always in that country knowing a few of the "right" people can help. The one I know in cebu is a bit of a celebrity. As for anullment if you haven't got a lawyer yet choose CAREFULLY, same with which court you use some are faster than others none of it will be cheap and most judges will want a "gift". Jim.

The fastest way would invariably be to go and visit her.

Thank you all for the responses. I'll explain my situation a little better. I met her while I was living in the Philippines for a year. She told me she's married, but wanting annulment as her husband is in the US, does nothing for her after marriage, doesn't want her to come to US, basically only married her to show off he's married, and cheats on her all the time etc. We started our relationship and truly fell in love. I returned to the US as my work there was done, so we have been continuing it online and by phone for the past 10 months or so. I'm already planning to visit over the holidays the end of this year for 2 weeks. We would like to apply for the fiance visa as soon as her annulment is finalized (however long it takes), but both of us would really like to have her come to the US for a few months, to spend time together, and also to see what living here is like, to meet my family, to explore the US. She has no problem returning to the Philippines as her family is there, but our hope is she will return to the US for good at a later time on a separate visa.

I know that it is not easy for her to get a tourist visa, although she is truly coming here just to be a tourist for a few months, but it is hard to prove it because she doesn't have a lot in the Philippines to prove she will return, except her family that she's living with. We both would be grateful for any advice on our situation. It's quite complicated but we both are dedicated to being together no matter how long it takes.

Not complicated.

She applies for a Visitor Visa.

If she gets it, she visits.

If she does not, she does not.

I would proceed with caution....I've heard countless stories from people who have been in similar situations and wondered why no one emerged from baggage claim to meet them at the airport....quite often the foreign fiancee used another person to get to the US, and then abandoned that person so they could be reunited with their real spouse or significant other...
