The problem, in a way, is unrelated to taxes. The wealthy can not really drive a consumer economy, thats the problem. I could care less how much someone else makes...except when it threatens the fundamentals of the economy.

people just follow the LEGAL Tax codes... (usually)

if you don't like the code.. run for office, get some bills going, change law..

Half of congress is in the top 1%. They like talking about changing the tax code, but that's about all they will ever do. It's not human nature to change something that's favorable to one's self.

Of course you would like it, it benefits you more than people who make less than you. You should pay the same proportion of your income as taxes that evryone else does.

I already pay a higher percentage than people who make less than me. None (or only a small percentage) of my income comes from capital gains.

In today's political reality, running for office requires big money for advertising. Where does this money come from? The rich and the large corporations have gotten the rules changed in their favor which has resulted in us having the 'best government money can buy!' The ONLY way to change this would require major changes in campaign finance laws and that will NOT happen with those currently in office. The future will only see this get worse, especially now that the supreme court is also becoming a majority owned subsidiary of those top 1% and the big corporations.
