Why pin this solely on Jerry Brown? He didn't author the bill. He only signed it into law. It passed overwhelmingly through the state legislature. Those are the guys you should be organizing a recall against.

That occupies 3/4 of your brain.

California could become a divers mecca. Real Americans can go diving there and check out LA under water....it would be a giant hit imo. The Bay of California...it has a nice ring to it.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

lol i'm sure the US would be better off without tech companies, 2 of the largest ports, and most of the US farmland used to produce fresh produce (as opposed to cattle feed and soy beans).

Sometimes you have to crack a few eggs to make an omelet. Trust me...nobody would miss California nor it's inhabitants. Again California is a cancer for the US that would be better off removed entirely.

I've never heard of a cancer that helps the patient...like providing more tax money than it receives to the Federal government.

One is a malignant tumor, and other other is a pic of California. Now here's where it gets tricky. First off do you know which pic is which and secondly, do you know the differences between the two?

OK, I'l give you that one. It's obvious by that post you discovered what pic is the malignant cancerous tumor, and what pic is California.

Now for the real test. What's the difference between a malignant cancerous tumor and California?

I love a spirited debate on the topic of...guns.

Sorry about going off topic on the gun thing Gary, but we have more important issues to discuss here atm...like the pros and cons of nuking Bolshevik illegal loving California off the face of this planet.

Here in Vermont we can carry a handgun anywhere, anyway we want, no stinkin' permit needed. Even with bullets!

Almost no one carries a handgun openly, though you see it occasionally. We also have no law against public nudity but very few people go naked on main street (though it is pretty common that people go "skinny dipping") There is the occasional "naked protest" of something, who really cares what though, they are naked.

Law enforcement needs to be educated by their employers, if they were not aware of the law what are THEY doing with guns?

I mean it is kinda lame to carry open, unloaded guns. Why not just cap pistols? Get with it and demand the state have a concealed carry law to prevent crime like 41 other states do.

Yeah I know VT, in addition to AK, AZ and WY have no permit requirements for concealed carry and open carry is legal. Since the founding of California it was legal to open carry, until 1967 it was legal to carry a loaded firearm in public, the right to open carry unloaded handguns was rarely (if ever) exercised until a few years ago when 2nd Amendment groups started to do it. It was then after encounters (purposely) with law enforcement, county sheriff departments sent out memos explaining the open carry law.

I know you feel it is lame, but understand it was basically the only way many law-abiding gun owners could carry, unlike you there in VT., it was what they had, so that is what they did. The issue of CCW's is at the discrection of the county sheriff. Understand the CA. legislature is overwhelmingly populated with gun grabbers and until this state (miraculously) elects 2nd Amendement friendly politicians, it is a struggle. Now they wanna register long guns, which has not been done before.

As an example for you, I've included the Orange County Sheriff's Department Training Bulletin dated in 2002. Yeah, as recently as 02, many in law enforcement were not aware of the right to open carry.

I have a dilemma Danno. I have $100 to donate to an organization/cause. I'm a bit stumped though. Do I donate it to the California for illegal immigrants chapter, or the California chapter of Rainbow pride...or do I give $50 to each?

Here I have a chance to help build a lemonade stand on the California - Mexico border to make sure illegals keep hydrated on their way to free education in California, yet I also have a chance to help make sure children go to gay history classes in California public schools whether they want to or not. Oh god this is a tough one.

I think I'm going to have to call Comrade Brown on this one and get his advice before I write out that check.

But then other people moved from other areas to replace them. There is a joke about SF that you rarely meet a native californian there.

That is true period in California.
