Your right.

Let me answer his question. In Alaska we have what's called "choice". Unlike a Bolshevik state where the government controls most all your actions, up here we make our own decisions. In fact I do think I shall wear my LOADED hog leg strapped to my side when I walk over to the mini mart today for a white chocolate mocha. Yes I can!

Chocolate cake at home and white chocolate mocha at the store? Yes you can... but should you? :jest:

I'm supposed to be on a diet, but those cake mixes were less than half price, and those mocha's are addicting. Top that with a pack of smokes a day and I run out of breath walking to truck. :(

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

You want to go on disability next, don't you? That's the long term income generating plan here, isn't it?

I never gave that any real thought...but now that you mention it....

If I got disability for being too fat to work, I could flame Rob on here all day long for the rest of my life. B-)

She doesn't eat it. She might have a piece now and then, but it's a rarity. She thinks anything out of the box including macaroni and cheese is some kind of facist food. Screw her. Mac in the box rules, and Betty Crocker triple fudge chocolate cake rocks.

I was asking if you'd comply with the law by openly carrying a weapon or if you'd violate the law by carrying concealed.

What are Californians supposed to do? Of course your answer is "it's not like that in Vermont" and that's why I asked the hypothetical of it being like that in Vermont. Let me take it a step further. What if it was like that everywhere and moving wasn't an option?

What if the law where you live was unloaded OC only? What would you do then?

There would be one fool proof way to find out.

I admit, I am just not good at hypotheticals. No reason to be. Because you CAN move and it is NOT that way everywhere. In fact, if you live in CA you are choosing to be enslaved.

But on that subject, if frogs had wings they would not bump their butts when they hop.

Do you really think you'll get an honest answer from Gary? False bravado from an aging man is more likely.

Given the right circumstances (as in, a situation involving something other than Vermont or his naked wife) we may get a straight answer. The bravado will still be there, though.

my concern about open carry of an unloaded firearm - it can lead to some unpleasant situations for the police and the average citizen. as you know, one needs to be fairly close to know it's unloaded.

if an armed robbery occurred nearby, and the responding police just happened to drive by on the way to the scene and passed someone close to the description of the perp and was holding a firearm, what do you suppose would happen?

it wouldn't be good.........

So is the problem that people are exercising their rights or that we've restricted rights to such a high degree that citizens are now in danger for simply exercising their rights?

Or both?

You've previously posted about doing time in the joint. As such, I'd assume you have a felony record and also as such, you've been disabled from owning firearms. (Like I said, I'm just assuming.) If that's the case, are you armed in violation of the law?

All you have to do is go back to court and get your gun rights back...if they give them to you. Anywhere else I wouldn't have had a chance in h*ll getting them back, but my neighbor here is a circuit court judge and hunting buddy of mine. That and I over hauled his boiler free of charge and helped him nab a bear. So it's all good. I have my gun rights back, and I'm feeling good about not living in a Bolshevik state where they make all your decisions for you. :)

The only problem with that scenario is, to legally open-carry, the weapon has to be properly holstered. People that open-carry are well aware of the "properly holstered" requirement. So if a cop responding to a robbery nearby sees a person open carrying, but with the weapon in his hand, that person is subject to arrest. I would imagine that cop and his department would have a big problem if that situation was not handled properly. I don't imagine a cop using good judgement would just start shooting at someone with a weapon in his hand, without first engaging to get the facts. But then again, there are some boneheads with a shield and weapon on his/her hip.
