Hi everyone, I hope the weather isn't too miserable where you are. Jess and I are waiting our NOA2 after we received our NOA1 on July 11th. In the meanwhile I've gotten all my vaccinations sorted per the CDC website, tomorrow I'm getting paperwork signed to send off to ACPO for the Police certificates, I've received transcripts of my university degree to present to potential employers and (really importantly) booked flights to see her next month :D If I'm missing anything important please feel free to say :)

I just have a few questions about Packet 3. I was under the impression that this stage comes after NOA2 and its when Jess (as the USC petitioner) demonstrates that she earns over the poverty line. What I'm unsure about is;

  • At what stage does she compile Packet 3?
  • Does she send this direct to me or to the Embassy/USICS?
  • If she sends it to the Embassy I assume I also need a copy to present at the interview (God willing)

Thanks for any and all help,

Liam

Hi Liam,

it would be helpful if you had your timeline linked so we could see where you are up to. I'm a little hazy on packet 3 details so I'm going to leave that to someone else, but are you sure it's wise to fly over to see her next month? You may want to be here to get your medical booked, reply to packet 3, get your interview date set-up etc. CSC is generally faster than VSC and so your next step could be imminent.

First thing after NOA2 is USCIS sending your approved petition to NVC. If everything is perfect (not with your petition, but with the sun, moon stars, and karma)then NVC gives you a new case number LNDxxxxxxxx and sends it to London withinin 3 days.

Packet 3 isn't a packet, but a letter from the embassy saying they have received your file and a link to their website for their instructions on how to proceed. Here it is http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html be sure and look at all the links in the left and right columns.

At this point, it's all about you and she does nothing but send you her I-134 Affidavit of Support and proof of income so you can take to your interview. You don't need proof of engagement, a new letter of intent, skype logs, photos, or printouts of your facebook status. London won't look at them... I promise a thousand times.

Go to the link and study the procedure. Read all the links!!!!

just like Nich-Nick says... once you get your case number from NVC its all about you apart from the I-134 which the USC fills out and sends to you. you send all completed 'DS' forms (filled out by you) to the embassy but take all other documents including the I-134 to the interview. you can schedule you medical pretty much as soon as you have your case number from NVC

godspeed :)

Nich-Nick is it right that London dont even ask for an I-134 from co-sponsors any more?? its just that i was reading a London embassy review the other day and the CO told the girl that it wasnt required for a K-1 visa even though she didnt meet the 125% herself.

Hi Liam,

I've updated that now so you should be able to see it.

Thanks for clearing that up. I've been reading the information here and I think I was starting to get myself tied in knots, if that wasn't already evident :P

I'll still be taking a truckload of evidence with me because it would be my luck that if I didn't take anything to prove our ongoing love for each other they would ask for it :P I'd rather not make a sheepish phone call to Jess to say "Honey I effed up".

Thank you :) I'm hoping the medical is pretty straight forward, I've been using my flexi time at work to go home and get all the vaccinations required by CDC so that should be one less thing to have to worry about.

Have I left out anything blindingly obvious?

vaccinations

I-134 and supporting evidence which you get Jess to mail to you once you get NOA2

proof of ongoing relationship isnt needed for London but if it makes you feel better then you may as well take it but it wont be asked for

i cant think of anything else that you need :)

if your going to visit Jesss then it might be wise to take some evidence of ties back to england like proof that your working or in education... something that shows you will be returning to the UK. i dont know how important this is but i have seen others advise it just in case you get questioned at the airport about having applied for an immigrant visa.

so for your vaccinations did you just go to your doctor and show him what you needed?? and did you get them all done free on the NHS or did you have to pay for any??

unless it has changed thats not quite true they asked me for a new letter of intent, it depends if it has been 6 months since the original was signed

i tried to give them my co sponsors bit and the lady basically said you don't need it, so i believe you heard rightly

vaccinations

Mine are all up to CDC requirements since September 26th this year and I have a print out from the Nurse Practitioner to show that they have been administered

I-134 and supporting evidence which you get Jess to mail to you once you get NOA2

We can start to get that sorted when I'm over hopefully

proof of ongoing relationship isnt needed for London but if it makes you feel better then you may as well take it but it wont be asked for

i cant think of anything else that you need :)

I've taken screen caps of our IM's and Facebook pages and I have all the emails that we've sent each other just waiting to be printed off as well as receipts and proof of postage for things we have sent each other.

London might not ask for it but I'd rather be prepared in case they do, worst case we have a scrapbook of how our relationship started and grew from strength to strength :)

if your going to visit Jesss then it might be wise to take some evidence of ties back to england like proof that your working or in education... something that shows you will be returning to the UK. i dont know how important this is but i have seen others advise it just in case you get questioned at the airport about having applied for an immigrant visa.

I emailed HR today in work and asked for a letter stating my position, that I'm a permanent employee and the date I am due to return to work. I also have bills that I can bring and I can photocopy my rent book to show I have a lease here.

I live in Northern Ireland and fly from Dublin because they have US Border agents there so I can get clearer before I board the plane. The last time I was asked a ton of questions (a lot were pretty similar but asked slightly different ways) and I wasn't expecting it but this time I'm prepared.

so for your vaccinations did you just go to your doctor and show him what you needed?? and did you get them all done free on the NHS or did you have to pay for any??

My GP's surgery only had forms for holiday vaccinations so I filled that in and submitted it. When the Nurse Practitioner was passed the form she phoned me up saying that I could just get a tetanus booster. I had the CDC list for immigrants printed off and read her out what was required and at the first appointment I gave her a copy of what was required too that she worked off. I may have been very lucky but I wasn't charged for any of them, the lady giving me the injections just wanted to know about Jess and how our visa was progressing :)
