So you are saying CITIZEN's are entitled to more things? Immigration is broken in many ways, but limiting the number of immigrants that can come to America is not one of them. If you want the same rights as a citizen, become one.

Absolutely citizens have more right, or what would be difference between LPR and a Citizen?

Immigration could be broken, does not mean that they open up the flood gates and let everyone immigrate.

Do you even understand what that would do to the economy?

Already with high unemployment that is going to add more to the number.

Ppl can understand that the difficulty in living away from family, but it was the path chosen by you, Govt did not force you to go on this path and you were well aware of the consequences as well.

Would you rather them face the atrocities in their home country?

The immigrant sees this as their chance, perhaps the only chance, for a better life for themselves, their spouses, their children. We have it better than others, the UK and Ukraine are relatively safe places to live in. However, look at the countries where the other people posting here are coming from - go to Google News and enter them, one by one. Is it the immigrant's fault to want a simple safety of knowing that he or she or their child will not be gunned down just walking down the street? Or exploited by corrupt officials? Or die 20-30-40 years younger because of the lower life expectancy?

And while the U.S. prizes itself on opportunity, helping others, setting an example of charity and democracy to the rest of the world, it has these senseless quotas in place. What purpose do _they_ serve?

i wish there's a "like" button here!

i may add that, while i'm not from a poor family or country. i must say there are reasons other than $$$$ for working/living here.

You are getting a good one! LOL dancin5hr.gif

I can understand some of the countries are not safe nor there is much economic development, but US govt is not responsible for all of them. Was the immigrant not aware of this situation when they moved to US?

Were they not aware what would be the hardship or ease on their families.... I am sure lot of them are sending money back home which would be making lives of their family much easier.

This would be like ohh I miss my bro let him in ..... then months later now I m missing my uncle let them in too..... now since my bro my uncle is here only person we are missing is my newphew let him in too....... months later ohhh all of us are here but we miss jack from the street file for him too and let him in too.....lol

i dont blame anyone for wanting a better/safer life for themselves and there families but what would you suggest... america just opens its borders to however many people want to live there??

Then US would turn into the same country where from where ppl are trying to immigrate.... :)

we're only talking about spouse and children of LPR

not freaking uncle jackson whatever you named it.

people keep talking about removing the F2A numerical visa number limit would "open flood gate" and it'll make the unemployment rate go up.

isn't it the opposite because more money would be spent HERE in the U.S.

so more consumer spending/housing purchases are bad for the economy.

makes no sense

Personally, I think there is nothing to indicate that more legal immigration is going to necessarily harm the economy. _Illegal_ immigration does harm it - through tax avoidance, driving down wages for everyone and other socioeconomic outcomes of huge numbers of people living a half-life under the radar. But what drove them into the shadow? The very quotas you are defending here.

To think about their lifestyles, think about your own. They are all people, just like you. The criminal elements are a minority that can be stopped - heck, it will even create more jobs in law enforcement.

I can understand that some of you feel that the US needs to control the number of immigrants moving in - hey, I come from a country that has approx. 170 000 foreign residents, and some of my country men already think that this is too many. However, keeping husbands and wives or parents and underaged children apart for a number of years IS unfair and unnecessary. Instead, stop the flow of illegal immigrants to the country and abolish the diversity visa lottery.

My F2A/IR-1 journey:

USCIS:
4 August 2011: I-130 sent (while husband permanent resident)
8 August 2011: Priority date
16 April 2013: NOA2

NVC:

7 May 2013: Case number received, DS-3032 sent

15 May 2013: AOS bill received and paid

16 May 2013: AOS package sent

17 May 2013: DS-3032 accepted

20 May 2013: IV bill received and paid

21 May 2013: IV package sent

11 June 2013: response to IV checklist sent

13 June 2013: Case upgraded to CR1

2 July 2013: Case completed

28 August 2013: Interview - approved!

21 September 2013: POE

18 November 2013: Green card received

My husband's citizenship journey:

8 February 2013: N-400 sent
4 March 2013: Biometrics
24 April 2013: Interview
12 June 2013: Oath ceremony

I have seen here so many people TALKING againts F2A. these so called people were LPRs once and now became USC. they want rest all LPRs suffer the sam epath they went thro.

Immigrants against Immigrants?

ALL LPR's here not asking for an GCs given right away to their spouses and minor children- All they are asking is to stay together-come to US under onon-immigrant visas like B1 for short term or "V" visa or the propsed "W" visa. these are temp.visas and they will wait in line until their turn to get GCs.

I can see whole array of all non-sense discussions that talka about H4B/L2 allowed because they are non-immigrant visas. Remember 90% of H1B/L1 will eventually become LPR- and they are allowed to bring in their spouses.

However, I do beleive, the law/quota was not created to separate families- but it was created long time ago and never gotten updated to reflect the CURRENT situations. Politicians never care for it because we, the LPR do not have money to lobby unlike people who stay illegally...

Just ignore these ####### here who always makes crappy comments and tries to depress people.I have signed the petition, you do it please.....

Are you saying your are not living in the house until your family is here?

More ppl means more ppl need more jobs......more infrastructure, more cars more roads, more medical needs, unfortunately govt does not tax per person in your family, in fact your tax would go down as you now more deduction.

Means less money for govt and they will have to provide more with less money.

So you think if govt opens the gate and lets everyone in... it is not going to impact the economy? If you answered Yes there is no point of even talking.

You thinkg illegal immigration drives down the wages ..... good so when you have 100s of thousands of ppl looking for job would your wages not drive down? Would the employeer not have the option to choice?

What drove these ppl to shadow, is they entered country illegally so if you open the gate they would roam free.... it would be another drug cartel.

I see you were married in 2011, when you got married were you and your spouse not aware of this restriction?

Now after being aware of the restriction if you claim its unfair, then how is it that fair?

Dude get your facts right not 90% of H1 and L1 get GC.... Lately I have seen lot of them return back, lot of their new and renewal of applications are rejected.

Living on H1 / L1 is not as easy it sounds, when your life is in limbo or your employeer controls your life you will realise how is life on H1 / L1.

Short term visas were given out until ppl started abusing them and thats when they had to stop them, can you give me reason why they had to stop the short term visa? you know the reasons very well and there is nothing like LPR turned into USC and they dont want other LPR...... mainly this forum is always helping ppl to navigate thru the waters of immigration.

Look at the older members... Kathryn, CW, Just Bob, Jim, Boiler, Harpa, My little, Magical and lot more spend their personal time to help other ppl thru process of immigrating.

All these ppl have gone thru their journey and none of them is getting paid to help ppl here (guys let me know if u are... I am not....:))

Thanks for the conclusion. Steve jobs updated iPod to iPhone to ipad ...immigration needs to be updated every once awhile. Whether for lpr or USC.
