So now that Dean is approved with an I-551 stamp and we're waiting the arrival of his green card (the USCIS website says his card has now been ordered!), I was wondering about his SS card.

Is he now able to go and get a SS card with the "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" removed from it? Or does he have to officially have a 10 yr green card to have that removed?

Thanks for any help!

Yeah, the I-551 stamp will work. However, his PR status will need to be verified and he will have a higher chance of clearing SAVE with the I-551 card, so you might want to hold off until the card arrives.

Oh yeah we will definitely wait for his green card to arrive. I just wasn't sure if we could have that condition removed from his SS card on a 2 yr green card, or if he had to wait for his 10 year card to make the change.

Thanks for your help!
