Hello~ I've been lurking through these forums for a few weeks and the help and support provided in these forums seems so vast! I'm glad to finally be a part of it.

Please pardon any mistakes, I'm not used to the abbreviations yet and have very limited knowledge on the subject. x:

Also, Please pardon this large wall of text.

I came to the US with my parents when I was 5. We entered legally with a visa but it expired. I lived my whole life here and have been in no legal trouble except for a ticket I got for skipping school as a teenager. (That's not going to harm the AOS right? I mean, everyone does it at least once I'm sure!)

I met my partner online when we were teenagers and were friends for 3 years before we dated. We lived way far, across the country. :[

We started dating in 2009, and he has flown over here about 4 times, the first being about a year and a half ago.

He does all the traveling since he is the USC and I'm scared of flying domestic due to horror stories I'll mention later.

A few months ago, he flew over here and stayed for over a week, met my parents face to face and we got used to being together physically without any static in a skype call, or any lag spikes or dropped calls. A few months after he was home, we decided we wanted to get married since we were going to at some point anyway and just wanted to be physically together as soon as possible and move to his town where he has a stable job.

So, we planned a wedding and got married. Yesterday actually!

His family flew in and our parents have met face to face as well.

Since his parents know my situation and were in it years ago, they were very sympathetic and his dad referred us to the same lawyer that helped him with his AOS. The lawyer is trying to make everything go as smoothly and quickly as possible and has actually already asked for photocopies some documents to have everything ready to submit as soon as she can.

That's basically what has happened thus far.

As for my question and why I haven't traveled is because I'm honestly scared to. I only have my foreign passport, still valid. But it's empty.

I hear lots of stories from strangers and family members of how ICE, Immigration, I dont know what they are called, are there wandering around asking people for id, at times when the people aren't even going to fly and are just picking up people.

Or that the people who check your ticket ID actually check for a visa if you use a foreign passport for domestic flights and call ICE.

And how LAX spesifically uses lots of racial profiling, stopping mainly people who look hispanic.

While I know that doesn't happen -all- the time, I'm a huge weenie and don't want to take the risk of that happening while I'm alone with only a foreign passport.

The lawyer said that once we get the NOA1 I'll be able to travel. So what my husband and I are planning is that once we get the NOA1, he will fly over here again, and we'll travel together, taking the NOA, a copy of it to show and a copy of our marriage certificate. Best case scenario, we should be able to travel without trouble.

However, since I am very cautious, If we happen to get stopped and questioned, will that be enough to get us out of it eventually and let us travel?

Again, Please pardon the wall of text.

I'm looking forward to sharing my journey here with all of you. c:
