Hello AOS forum,

My fiancee and I are currently waiting for out NOA2 so we are trying to get a jump on the vaccines needed for the AOS form once we get to the states. Since my fiancee is Mexican vaccines are not discussed at all at the K1 visa interview and instead we will have to find a civil surgeon once we get to the US.

The question is what vaccines are needed exactly? Since they will be much cheaper and many are even free here in Mexico we would like to get most of them done her. My fiancee has records of every vaccine she has received, but we need to know what else is needed.

Thanks a bunch...

Fell in love on a missions trip in 2005, got married in 07, got pregnant and started IR1 visa process in 08, had baby number 2 in 10, and its now 2011, and we are just now finally getting to the end of this long road. (The mail from the embassy never arrives to my home, causing us trouble. Fingers crossed and prayers going up! Both kids born and raised in Mexico and American citizens by CRBA:

His Appointement is October 25th!

Are all of these required for AOS? Or just what is available at CDJ?

Here's the chart that is still current. Pay attention to the ages because adults don't have to get the ones not under their age category.

http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/civil/vaccination-civil-technical-instructions.html#tbl1

Here's another way to look at it

19 through 26 years- Td or Tdap (if DT, DTP or DTaP shown: okay to accept); MMR; Varicella; Influenza (during flu season only; October 1 through March 31)

27 through 49 years- Td or Tdap (if DT, DTP or DTaP shown: okay to accept); MMR; Varicella; Influenza (during flu season only; October 1 through March 31)

50 through 59 years- Td or Tdap (if DT, DTP or DTaP shown: okay to accept); MMR (if born in 1957 or later); Varicella; Influenza (during flu season only; October 1 through March 31)

If a person had chickenpox disease (varicella), then they are excused from the Varicella shot.

The Tetenus/Diptheria/Pertussis if taken as a child, sill has to have a booster not longer than 10 years ago.

This list looks much shorter than others I have seen. I was under the impression that these were needed...

Influenza1,*

Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Td/Tdap)2,*

Varicella3,*

Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)6,*

Pneumococcal (polysaccharide)7,8

Meningococcal9,*

Hepatitis A10,*

Hepatitis B11,*

The chart comes from the US Center for Disease Control (CDC) who is the source for USCIS requirements. Did you click the link? Scroll up to the top of the link page and read all the details in the Technical Instructions for Vaccination for Civil Surgeons.

If your fiance is not the age listed in blue on your list, then the shot is not for her.

Influenza1,*

Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Td/Tdap)2,*

Varicella3,*

Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)6,*

Pneumococcal (polysaccharide)7,8 Age 2 months-59 months; over 65 years old

Meningococcal9,* Age 11-18 years old

Hepatitis A10,* Age 12-24 months old

Hepatitis B11,* Age 0-18 years old

Go by your list if you think it's more correct than the one Civil Surgeons use. I gave you the best answer I know.

Those are "required" so to speak in terms of being USCIS required vaccinations for immigration, BUT they are AGE dependant, as Nich-Nick said. You want to get those above, feel free, won't hurt AOS, but it would be a waste of time and money. Trust Nich-Nick's list. It's correct.
