People starting their 'path to citizenship' by swimming the border and living by forged documents are automatically people of bad character who are banned from citizenship anyway. So they can never be on a path to citizenship.

Bad character. Okay.

How about politicians who send hundred thousands Americans straight into the hell of Iraq or Afghanistan to die, in order to serve their masters, the corporate war lords?

Is that good moral character?

How about corporations who have sent tens of millions (maybe over a hundred million) jobs overseas to China, India, Bangladesh, and thus have created the alarming rate of unemployed in the U.S.?

Is that good moral character?

How about Walls Street's kings, who have played the market and created the whole sub-prime mortgage industry which is responsible for millions, tens of millions of Americans to lose their homes?

Is that good moral character?

This is not a black-and-white world. As somebody who studied "morals" (Ethics, actually) let me tell you that even morals depend on the viewers' perspective. What's more immoral: crossing a border without permission to feed one's children, or letting one's children starve to death in order to prevent crossing border without authorization. If you have time, one day, read's Immanual Kant's Categorical Imperative. It's easy to throw stones, for any of us, but sometimes trying to view an issue from either a distance or from the opposite view can be a revelation.

Listen, I'm not pro illegal immigration, not even by a long shot, but I understand that not everybody who came here from Mexico without a visa is a human ####### roach that should be trampled to death for the immorality of trying to escape hell in exchange for a better life that is actually hell compared to how "we" live.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

illegal immigrant. Key words there. If a citizen murders someone, he's a murderer. If someone comes into this country illegally they are an illegal and therefore a criminal.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."
