My Interview is next week on 18th oct.

I still haven't got my Indian Police Clearance Document due to a big mess happening in the Govt offices in my locality.

I have a new passport issued in Aug,2011 and since I lived in Australia for past 2.5 years;

I have an Aus Police clearance and

a stamp on my old passport saying that I have been issued an Indian Police Clearance, when the time I was in Australia, that is in June 2010.

Is it like, still the Indian Police Clearance is need in my case as a mandatory document from the consular officers in India ?

Please reply, if anyone knows anything of the above situation ?

This about my case;

23rd May - filed 129f

1st Aug - Request for Evidence

26th Aug - Approved

7th Sept - NVC Case number

21st Sept - Chennai, India Consulate fixed interview on 18th October.

Thanks and Regards.

This is my opinion, my fiance and I have not yet filed for the K-1. I've read a lot of stories on these boards about the consulates in India and the consensus is to come to the interview with as much preparation as possible and still expect a 221g. I understand your situation though. My fiance said there were some riots close to his area last week and as a result almost everything had been closed.

Go the interview well prepared (minus the police certificate). If they ask about the certificate, explain that you were unable to obtain it because of the aforementioned situation with government offices in your region. Keep emphasizing that you have been living in Australia and that you have the Aussie police records.

Did you obtain a passport clearance certificate?

Best of luck on your interview! :)

I am the petitioner.

I have got a new passport re-newed in Aug, 2011, just 2 months old.

And my Old passport has a "stamp" that they have issued a Police cert, when I applied in June,2010 from my embassy in Aus.

Now, that is invalid as its too old. So, for my New Passport which is less than two months old,

My question is that, do I still need a Police clearance ?

@singh; I will emphasize on my Aussie stay and its Police records.

Thank you.

In general, as far as I know police record clearance are only valid one year from the date they are issued.

From what I understand from you post it sounds like you would need a newly issued police certificate.

I am the petitioner.

Do you have a fingerprint police clearance? They must be fingerprints. They will want to see the clearances so if you don't have the physical clearance the stamp means nothing. Sorry!

"Finger Print Police Clearance" Lol..!

Though I am confused with my document, you made me laugh..!

Indian passport Offices have recently become online and their portals are not in congruence with the Police department Portals.

Its slowly picking up, though not as advanced as Australia.

My question is that; what if mine is a new passport which is just 2 months old and a renewed one from my Old passport..!

And from past 2.5 years, I was in Australia and I have an Australian Police Clearance..!

Do I still require the Indian One for my renewed 2 months old passport ?

Thanks.

i'm not sure why that made you laugh. It's possible to get an Australia Police certificate without fingerprints, I was confirming that you did indeed pay the higher fee and get fingerprinted for your Australia police certificate and did so within the last year.

I don't know about the indian one. If you want to risk it you'll find out at interview whether you need it and your visa is placed on hold until you get the clearance, OR you can just get a new Indian police clearance just to be safe. up to you.

I have just a week's time; and my Police Clearance is struck up with the local Passport authorities.

And since they are having problems such as shortage of staff and equipment. I have taken a print out of a local news paper article,

about the situation and protests going on with the applicants against the authorities.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for this. Hopefully I should get it by this weekend.

Otherwise its a huge risk.

Lord Save me..!

My fiance is going through the Mumbai Consulate and I'm not sure how different the rules are, but here is the info I've received for his PCC:

POLICE REPORT: Each applicant aged 16 years or older must submit a police certificate that

includes information regarding the applicant, including all arrests, the reason for the arrest(s) and the disposition of such cases. The following list explains where applicants must obtain their police

certificates.

(A) Indian citizens residing in India: Indian citizens residing in India for six months or more since

turning 16 years of age must present Indian police clearance certificates from the local area passport

office. This certificate is valid for one year from the date issuance.

(B) Indian citizens currently residing outside of India: If an Indian citizen who has lived in India for

at least one year after the age of 16 currently resides outside India, he/she must obtain a certificate

issued by the Indian Embassy or Consulate where he/she lives. This certificate is valid for one year

from the date of issuance.

© Non-Indian citizens residing in India: Non-Indian immigrant visa applicants residing in India

should obtain police certificates from the district police station serving their area of residence. This

certificate is valid for one year from the date of issuance.

(D) Indian and Non-Indian citizens who have resided outside of India: Applicants who have resided

in any other country for one year or more after the age of 16 may be required to submit police

certificates for the other country. Applicants may inquire with our Immigrant Visa Unit regarding

police certificates for these countries, by email at: mumbaiiv@state.gov. Applicants may also check

the visa reciprocity table at www.travel.state.gov. Please note that U.S. police certificates are not

required for applicants who have lived in the United States.

Not sure if this helps you, but best of luck!
