Why it take that long to get the child's CRBA? Is ur wife still in the Philippines? Mine only took 10 days from the time of application to getting the childs US passport.

When was that? Did you file through the normal process or was there some sort of waiver?

We submitted the applications in Cebu Consular Office because they still do it for walk-ins. Embassy in Manila now assigns an appointment after parents mail in the paperwork first, which is why we chose to do it in Cebu. Three weeks later we received a seemingly useless RFI for three items we had already submitted with the original. They received the additional documents last week, but nothing new after that yet.

The consular officer in Cebu told us that it will take from 3 to 3.5 months. Five weeks today. We shall see...

Medical is cheap in the Philppines, but the one draw back is if you have complication then the Medical care is nowhere near what it is in the USA.

Yeah, we hear that meme all the time and it is not informative at all. There are vast differences between what a poor Filipino gets in a remote province and the excellent facilities that private patients can afford to pay for in a modern city like Cebu, Davao City, Manila, etc.

Peter32 - thanks for that citation on cost of c-section. About $2,800. lol Our first c-section was $26 K and the second was $28 K. TEN TIMES MORE.

This is precisely why it can be so worth it to have work done in the Philippines. Same with any kind of dental work. Even with insurance covering 80% of a lot of things, we still pay less with cash in the Philippines than the U.S. co-pay costs us.

It's not because we get ten times the service. It's better in the Philippines by our experience.

It really depends on ur situation, i live 6 hrs from Manila and i was a green card holder that time already so it was easy for me...i only made one trip during the interview and that was it. They did not require for DNA or anything. It was worth for me. Coz i dont have hospital bills when i came back to US.
